i have seen the word vs shape “discourse”. just want to go on the record as saying i cant spell + my job / craft is literally manipulating shapes so im all in on shape gang. in fact i can only engage with words and ideas as interacting shapes so its shapes all the way down for me

i find this conflict particularly interesting because i notice it within myself, for example if i am 100% in “drawing mode” and suddenly have to write something i occasionally totally lose access to the spelling part of my brain and will accidentally write words phonetically

after playing guitar and bass all of my music theory knowledge is also based on shapes. theres no going back for me.

are u guys familiar with the kiki bobo effect / experiment? sometimes its referred to as ideaesthesia (like synesthesia but for the link between shapes and ideas). its an innate quality imo, that we all have for parsing and visualizing abstract qualities (shape gang stay winning)

basically its like, they tell people: look at these two shapes. one of these is called “bobo”, the other is called “kiki”. which one is which? and people from different cultures all assign it the same general way. ask yourself and i will post the answer in the next post.

generally the left one is bobo and the right one is kiki. this is interesting because it implies that the “sharp” nature of the K sound actually synesthetically translates in your mind to a literal visual sharpness, ie the shape with the sharp points on it.

whereas the soft rounded sound of bobo translates visually to a literal visual softness and roundness. you could potentially explain this because of the way your brain interprets the shape of your mouth when you make these sounds, but imo it goes deeper than that.

there is a type of innate synesthesia (in this case its actually ideaesthesia, a cross between ideas + the senses), wherein “frantic energy” really is visualized as crazy erratic shapes, being “chill” really naturally translates to “calm” shapes, this is a type of innate language

then this spills over and somewhat unites many disparate senses and art forms, for example a frantic clicking in music, then you have color combinations, things like that. this relates to something i started calling the primordial wellspring of creativity (and God, the mind etc)

basically the game is rigged in favor of shape-chads, we cant lose, thats it basically ⏺⏹🔼

this also has to do with personification (in general) and physiognomy, design, typography, etc., it basically affects literally everything.
