BREAKING: @CountyVentura announces it will lift its mask mandate Feb. 16 in alignment with the state. Masks will be required indoors for unvaccinated and strongly recommended for all.
“The mask order is being lifted because the COVID-19 situation has changed thanks to effective vaccines, effective treatments and a variant that causes less severe disease,” Public Health Officer Dr Robert Levin says in statement.
More from the county: “The California Department of Public Health continues to require masking in K-12 school settings in California but has indicated adjustments to the State’s policies will be shared in the coming weeks.” 👀👀
Just to show how much policy thinking has changed since Omicron, Levin said in October we would need to have a case rate under 7 for 3 weeks before he would lift order. The current case rate (which is falling rapidly) is 66.7.
