The significance of the episode where the Ukraine president called an emergency press conference to rebuke the US Government and media for stoking a war "panic" has been sorely under-appreciated. Whatever the US is doing at the moment, it's the opposite of "de-escalation" 
For years during Russiagate I argued that hysteria-peddlers were ignoring that domestic political frenzies inevitably affect the conduct of foreign policy -- and in the case of Russia relations that was potentially disastrous. Today, as predicted, we see the fruits of that frenzy
Because only in a political culture that has been seriously warped could there be such mass acceptance (and even support) for a US policy which appears designed to *escalate* tensions in a geopolitical tinderbox, thus making WWIII -- even if still a remote prospect -- more likely
Like clockwork, a new round of warnings from US media and government officials is having the effect of exacerbating rather than allaying tensions. Jake Sullivan just declared that any Americans should flee Ukraine. Everything they're doing suggests an intent to trigger war
It's always a big win on the internet when you can get a scornful commenter to admit they didn't read the article before commenting
