1/4 This is not a peaceful occupation of tricks and vehicles. It is harming residents in downtown Ottawa, my constituency of Winnipeg Centre, and elsewhere in Canada. We have even witnessed harassment of staff and clients at the Women’s Health Clinic in downtown Winnipeg.
2/4 Organizers have been talking about driving slowly in circles around Ottawa schools, a Steinbach school went into lockdown yesterday due to anti-mandate protests outside. Constant honking (including a train horn in Winnipeg) that’s akin to sonic torture.
There has been Constant honking, akin to sonic torture and the use of racist, xenophobic, anti-Semitic, homophobic behaviour, has been accepted and supported by occupiers. They have now taken hold of orange shirt day without support of the family. This is totally disgusting.
4/4 It is time for this to be shut down before more harm is inflicted on our community. People have a right to be safe and free of harm. #EndTheOccupation

1/7 (thread) This is not a peaceful protest. It is an illegal occupation and the use of the Canadian Charter by those in positions of authority to justify inaction is problematic.
2/7 Invoking Charter Rights does not give individuals or groups the right to break the Rule of Law , which includes respecting court injunctions, by-laws, and the rights and freedoms of others.
3/7 And the fact that those in positions of authority are unable to uphold their own Rule of Law, even with court injunctions in place, is highly disturbing in the face of this illegal occupation.
1/5 The occupation is not a working-class uprising, and in fact, is anti-worker. 1,500 retail workers have been impacted at the Rideau Centre after the mall was forced to close due to extreme harassment by maskless occupation participants.
2/5 Polo park is also under similar threat in light of the maskless protest planned to take over the mall, which could potentially result in workers having to go home, in turn losing pay.
3/5 Moreover, truckers (90% of whom are vaccinated) are stranded at border crossings because of the blockades impacting their ability to do their job and forcing Ford, Toyota and GM plants to shut down for the week impacting workers ability to earn a living.
