as evident in the GOP’s rooting for Canada’s right-wing trucker blockade protesting vaccine mandates, its goals are chaos, economic self-harm and lawlessness.

Parents threatening school board members? No problem! Thugs menacing poll workers? Go get 'em! Truckers occupying cities and sending our workers to unemployment lines? Swell! You'd never guess this is the party that inveighs against Ds for being weak on crime or anti-business.
A party that considers it heroic to occupy major cities and wreak havoc on innocent people — or that thinks marauding through the Capitol and assaulting police a party antagonistic only toward democ + “ordered liberty,” which used to be a big deal for the right.
The right wing’s infatuation with white grievance and increasing attraction to civil unrest at the expense of ordinary Americans is leading the GOP to increasingly perverse positions. Now, Republicans and their media cohorts root for economic distress, violence and disorder.

Cowardice is still the order of the day in the GOP. There are a few brave souls in the party, but the censure motion, consistent GOP rhetoric and polling tell us that MAGA Republicans are firmly in control. It’s not even close.
Rather than perpetuating the fantasy that there is a sane GOP electorate waiting for a savior, why not band together in a national, pro-democracy coalition to deprive the MAGA party of power?

the right has rigorously demonized complaints about racism and demands for racial inclusivity as “wokeness” or “cancel culture.” Screaming about “wokeness” seeks to disable the strength of social opprobrium so that right-wingers can go on offending and demeaning others.

How could someone create an opening for a new, non-MAGA, sane party? Then, lo and behold, the GOP itself came up with the answer.
C’mon, RNC, do it! You could not possibly have people in your midst who refuse to rewrite history and who put democracy over a losing president. If you let a couple of people think that way, pretty soon there might be an entire faction who won’t condone violence or coups!

It seems elementary, but each and every Republican on the ballot needs to decide if they stand with Trump and the violent insurgents or with the United States and its Constitution. The two are mutually exclusive.

Rs have no legit explanation for their efforts to limit access to the ballot and to seize election admin from neutral professionals. And tv hosts routinely do a poor job of pressing them on their rationale for subverting our democracy.

What could possibly be the justification for subversion bills? Republicans such as Ernst need to be asked whether such legislation undermines faith in elections, increases the opportunity for partisan meddling and discourages qualified election workers from serving.
