2- "And, until recently, I have always felt encouraged to bring my full self to work—including my political advocacy."
"That advocacy has always focused on kids."
Who could attack this?
(Stay tuned)
3- "Early on in the pandemic, I publicly questioned whether schools had to be shut down. This didn’t seem at all controversial to me. I felt—and still do—that the draconian policies would cause the most harm to those least at risk,.."
Many others thought this.
4- "In the summer of 2020, I finally got the call. “You know when you speak, you speak on behalf of the company,” our head of corporate communications told me, urging me to pipe down. I responded: “My title is not in my Twitter bio."
It gets worse.
5- Free speech and political advocacy is good, if it's free speech and political advocacy we the woke corporation approves of.
6- " I met with the mayor’s office, and eventually uprooted my entire life in California—I’d lived there for over 30 years—and moved my family to Denver so that my kindergartner could finally experience real school."
Fortunately she could do this. Many parents cannot.
7- "National media picked up on our story, and I was asked to go on Laura Ingraham’s show on Fox News. That appearance was the last straw."
8- "The comments from Levi’s employees picked up—about me being anti-science; about me being anti-fat (I’d retweeted a study showing a correlation between obesity and poor health outcomes);.."
We promote drugs but won't promote diet and exercise. So FUBAR.
9- "They also castigated me for my husband’s Covid views—as if I, as his wife, were responsible for the things he said on social media."
This is a dynamic of #CancelCulture that is especially chilling.
10- "Meantime, the Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the company asked that I do an “apology tour.”
This is so gross.
11- "In the fall of 2021, during a dinner with the CEO, I was told that I was on track to become the next CEO of Levi’s .. The only thing standing in my way, he said, was me. All I had to do was stop talking about the school thing."
In other wods, sell your soul.
12- Good for Jennifer, but as @awstar11 pointed out, how many parents just trying to raise their families are not in position to say f*** you to the horrible mandates, consorship, etc.?
13- "It’s (Levi's) trapped trying to please the mob—and silencing any dissent within the organization.. like so many other American companies: held hostage by intolerant ideologues who do not believe in genuine inclusion or diversity."
My PCP doc: “Are you interested in the shingles vaccine?”
Me: “No, I’m not real big on vaccines right now”
PCP: “(visible sigh of relief) Ok, that’s good. I have to ask.”
Me: “No worries”
PCP: “I have to bite my tongue on all these vaccine things”
2- The “I have to bite my tongue” comment was NOT a “I need to scold you but I can’t” comment. I am sure of that. She was visibly relieved when I said “Nope”.
It was imho “Thank goodness I don’t have to go into a sales pitch I don’t believe in” comment.
3- My doc is Middle Eastern, young, clearly physically fit. It wouldn’t surprise me if she is reluctantly COVID vax’d, or maybe even has a religious exemption.
In any event, she’s clearly not comfortable with the clearly required sales pitch.
1- “It is most probable that the decedent suffered an unwitnessed fall backward and struck the posterior aspect of his head,” Stephany wrote, referring to the back of the skull.”
1- “They came from across the country. Vaxxed, unvaxxed, white, black, Chinese, Sikh, Indian, alone or with their wives and kids. They huddled around campfires… They blasted “We Are the World.” And everywhere you looked, someone was waving the Maple Leaf.”
2- “..the “vast majority” of Canadian truckers… are vaccinated.”
“So it’s about something else. Or many things: a sense that things will never go back to normal, a sense that they are being ganged up on by the government, the media, Big Tech, Big Pharma.”
The U.S. can relate.
3- “It is hard to capture how thoroughly Trudeau has misjudged the moment.”
2- Also, though it pains me to say it, notice how Pelosi rarely plays defense or apologizes, even when she has a terrible hand.
Compare & contrast with @GOPLeader, who gets his daily talking points from corporate captured Frank Luntz’s polling data & focus groups.
3- Here’s the lessons I’ve gleaned.
-Play offense, not defense
-Never apologize
-Don’t let them frame the debate
-Mock then incessantly (they deserve it)
-Assume the Media is the enemy
-Assume the Left is as dumb as they appear, but also dangerously authoritarian
2- One of the weird similarities is how the the deep state managed to create a fiasco across an outgoing / incoming Administration. Almost as if that’s the optimal time to do crazy shit.
3- Another interesting parallel is that JFK campaigned on aggressively fighting communism, accusing Eisenhower / Nixon of being too soft on the USSR aka “Red Menace”.
Once he became president JFK was trapped by his own campaign rhetoric.
