My views on Network Neutrality debate is as follows: #NetNeutrality
Network Neutrality encourages innovation and a healthy competition.
It provides a common field for larger companies and startups to compete among themselves to provide best services to customers.
Net Neutrality reduces the risk of having slow and fast lanes for internet users.
As evident in US , where Net Neutrality was revoked , Verizon started throttling US Fire Departments internet during a wildfire response. Fire Department had to pay extra for faster speeds.
Net Neutrality also supports Freedom speech.
ISP's could try to censor view of political agenda against their corporate political beliefs ,ISP's could also try to hide websites that are against them , if there is no net neutrality
Revoking Net Neutrality will affect not only the content providers/streaming platforms but also will hurt industrial IOT platforms companies.
ISP's will start charging extra , this would affect the IOT startup's the most they won't be able to compete with the Big Tech Giants . For Big Tech companies , customers will start to bear the overheads.
ISP's could also start throttling the speeds of their competitors iot devices and can speed up their own iot based platform devices.
I believe that the Network Neutrality can be explained in terms of Tragedy of the commons.
ISP's are making a selfish decision affecting the common's access to shared internet access. Without Net Neurality , ISP would establish slow and fast lanes to internet access. This would cause a major conflict between the haves and have nots !
Internet of Things in relation to Retail Industry Thread:
Potential Use Cases are has follows:
Inventory or warehouse management, Facility management , Supply Chain management and Energy Management.
IOT for Inventory or Warehouse management:
eCommerce companies can use RFID tags to automatically and quickly scan all the items in their warehouse.
This decreases risk of human manual entry error and gives a transparent view of the inventory.
Facility management IOT Retail Use Case:
Retailers can monitor temperatures/light intensity in their stores using sensors and then use this data to automatically adjust lighting and temperature based on weather conditions and time of the day.
