For the first time in my 21 years in the NHS, a parent asked for a white doctor. The doctors were confused and didn't know how to deal with it. I accompanied them on the final consultation. I told her in no uncertain terms that this was not a reasonable request and that we 1/3
would not be facilitating this request. The consultant also accompanied us. The 4 of us that went in were all from ethnic minorities background. The touching thing was that the toddler had no idea what was occurring and was playing with me during this. I felt so disheartened 2/3
and could not believe this was actually happening. I felt for my colleagues as anyone who knows me, know that I can look after myself. The doctors recently joined us from abroad. I hope society can change. #shocked
