TRANSLATION Thread of the german Eurosport commentary regarding Valievas' FS (because it's harsh and to the point!) #FigureSkating #kamilavalieva
Just for reference:
Quick note: I will refer to the commentators as "Person A" and the other as "Person B".
The commentators didn't say much during Valievas' performance, just noted here and there that she must not be doing/feeling well since she wasn't skating clean(basically hinting that whatever happened the last days got to her)
When Valieva fell, one of the commentators(I will refer to him as "Person A" straight out said "oh...oh...oh...what have they just done to this girl..."
Person B: "In boxing you can throw the towel/give up, in figure skating sadly not"
(At the end of her performance)Person B: "She's making a 'throw away' type of hand gesture. What we're seeing here is no drama, it's a tragedy![...]
[...]And there's only one sentence left for me to say here: couldn't they have kept her off from skating? And everyone who has to do with this case(allowing her to skate), is guilty[...]
[...]Let me phrase it differently: They have driven a great talent to the edge of annihilation. It is a responsibility that many didn't meet, not the CAS-judges, not her environment, her coach,[...]
[...]the physiotherapists, the quite controversial doctor that accompanies the figure skating group around Eteri. They all...they all need to take a look at themselves 'cause what they did to this young lady is unresponsible and just...yeah...unintelligible.[...]
[...](Now talking to Person A):You need to question if she will be able to recover from this. I assume you are just as in shock, right?(The scene comes up where Eteri is talking to Valieva now)
Person A: "Yeah right, I'm also trying to figure out what Eteri Tutberidze is just telling her" Person B:"Okay?"
Person A:"I believe to have understood, that she asked her "Why did you continue on with the quads? I thought we agreed that if the triple Axel goes wrong you should stop going further with quads"I'm not sure though if I understood that right"
(Camera showing the her coach/team) Person B:"ALL, ALL OF THEM THAT ARE STANDING THERE, ALL, ALL OF THEM THAT ARE STANDING THERE, I BLAME THEM AMONG OTHERS![...]
[...]I mean this whole issue is still about to heat up more, that is clear, this will be the cover headline, this is the big topic "A 15-year old girl that broke down under the high expectations",[...]
[...]"A 15-year old that gets accused of doping, allegedly with 3 different types of heart medications in her body", "A 15-year old that wasn't even aware of what was going on all around her, that was switched on via video to the CAS-hearing in the middle of the night"[...]
[...]how?how would that even be possible? Couldn't they have kept her off from skating? And now she's not even going to win a medal which at least means that there will be an award ceremony BUT if this is supposed to be a consolation...then I don't know...THIS is no consolation!
Person A:"Well I can't recall another time to have experienced such drama" Person B:"This is...this is...a tragedy...for this girl, this is a stab in the back...oh my God...I could puke! Why did they let her(compete)!?
(Next, the scene where the results are revealed) Person A:"Yeah...medal is lost...4th place...very terrible/sad...very very sad for Kamila Valieva"
Person B:"No medal for the predicted superstar of these Olympic games, just like Mikaela Shiffrin at the alpine area, will return home without a medal although she(Valieva) confidently should have won gold and look: Kaori Sakamoo gets bronze.[...]
(Scene is shown where Valieva has a break down crying)Person B:"Oh...oh that is so tragic...man...oh man..."
-Both commentators then go on to discuss the end results of all skaters as shown on the screen but then say that all these results are just "side notes" now(compared to the tragedy)
(Scene goes back to crying Valieva) Person A:"Yeah...I hope they take this camera focus away from her, it's unbearable to watch..."
Person B:"I also have to say that my respect for Eteri Tutberidze and that training camp over there has dropped to zero, really, I can't comprehend it anymore...[...]
[...]and to me, all of this is an unbelievable, and I'll say it once again, AN IRRESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS A MINOR and that's why I agree with Kati Witt:You have to raise the age approval to 17! I don't want to see this anymore![...]
[...]This is...you can't do this! The girls are not even grown-up yet. They race into puberty and get these kinds of experience on top..." (Video ends).
Ok, I finally finnished the translation. I'm sorry for any translation or grammar mistakes, I usually don't do this lol. Also, I hope I didn't mix up Person A with B, their voices sound similar🥺🙉
