Here are all #Azure #Subscription types explained - some of which you may not hear of

🧵👇
➡ Free
For new accounts, $200 credits on registration, valid for the first 30 days and include free services. No cryptomining, no quota increase, limited support. After 30 days or after spending the credit, users need to upgrade the subscription.
The upgrade will allow you to continue using services for free for another 11 months (for example, 750h of Free B1s VM, 5GB LRS storage, 250GB SQL DB, ...) and a bunch of always free services. Other services will be billed to your cc.
➡ Pay As You Go
PAYG for new customers will include the benefits of Free sub. Customers are invoiced and charged at the end of the month based on usage. Paid directly to Microsoft, services and subscriptions can be canceled at any time. Licenses are charged annually.
➡ Enterprise Agreement / Server Cloud Enrollment
EA is for highly committed companies that utilize Azure and/or Microsoft Licenses for a longer period. They receive better prices and a simplified charging/licensing model in exchange for their commitment.
EA also includes benefits like 24/7 support, Software Assurance, flexible reservations. EA can be purchased via Partner or directly. Management via separate EA portal.
In my experience, Microsoft often throws additional benefits for EA accounts, like sponsored migrations, hardware, free Azure Data Box migrations, quota increase, etc.
➡ Microsoft Customer Agreement
MCA provides simplified license and product purchases and improved billing without a commitment. Purchases and reservations are managed from Azure Portal. It can be obtained from Microsoft or Partners. Signing MCA is a requirement for CSP.
➡ Cloud Solution Provider
CSP program allows partners to sell Microsoft services, including Azure. This includes some benefits for end customers, like simplified billing, dedicated (and often local) support from your CSP, monthly license billing, direct or indirect purchase.
Partners can offer price that is higher or lower than published PAYG prices. The customer doesn’t have access to integrated billing, and the invoice comes from CSP.
➡ Cloud Service Provider - Azure Plan
Newer and simplified CSP program. Includes every benefit of CSP, but customers are billed at published pricing, and CSP can’t change the price. Because of that, customers can access Billing and rely on Azure Pricing, Azure Calculator, etc.
➡ Enrollment for Education Solutions
EES is a program for educational institutions. This works great for Intune and M365 licensing, simplifying licensing and billing. You can still use Azure services under this program, but there is no direct Azure-related benefit that I know of.
➡ Other (Visual Studio (Previously MSDN), BizTalk, …)
Software subscriptions that include free monthly Azure credit. Unused credits are not transferred over to the following month. This type of subscription offers minimal support. Intended usage is dev/test and learning.
That’s it. If you know of different Azure subscription options, please let me know :) Keep an 👁️ for more info like this every week.
