How about a thread of as many Joey Beauchamp OUFC goals as we can find in the depths of YouTube? Please chip in if you find any, but let's try as much as possible to keep them in order. And where else to start, but this, his first for #OUFC. #1
Here's number #2. No, not THAT one against Tranmere, but another earlier in the season. #oufc #joeybeauchamp
Number #3. I was at this game. But haven't seen it since. What a find in the depths of YouTube. Great strike from, er, Joey Bowchamp. #oufc
Haven't seen this before either. This is Joey's 4th for #oufc.
I think by this point, we were starting to realise that Joey was something a bit special. Here he is ripping Swindon a new one, for his 5th and 6th goals for us. #oufc
This game has been written about in length elsewhere. This was Joey's 8th and final goal of his breakthrough season, and the most important.
First game of the next season, a bright sunny day, a new backpass rule, and a wonderstrike from our emerging talent. #oufc #joeybeauchamp
Haven't seen this before either. Into double figures. #joeybeauchamp #oufc
Not seen this before either. Not his best, but they all look the same in the RageOnline database. 11. #oufc #joeybeachamp
12. #oufc.
Now we're talking. Imagine if Ronaldo had scored these two goals. 13 and 14. #oufc #joeybeauchamp
Who's still with me?
New season. Weird kit. #18
Skip to the end of this. #19.
Poacher. Into the 20s. #oufc #joey
21. Jeez the picture quality.
22.
Need to give a lot of love to OUFC archive on YouTube for all these btw.
Ouch. This is the only OUFC game I've ever had to buy a ticket for from a tout. Great finish by #joeybeauchamp.
Joey always scored against Tranmere.
We had to win this, and rely on other results. I think it was still just about feasible we could stay up ... so up stepped #JoeyBeachamp on what everyone thought would be his last game for us.
I mean, that's some goal right. Do they call that a 'chop' these days?
And then #JoeyBeauchamp left for West Ham.
I'm going to pause now and will resume this goal fest tomorrow. But if anyone wants to take this on and do the 95-96 season for instance - please do. It's very therapuetic. All the goals are out there. Please comment, and why not donate to a mental health charity?
Or shall I just do the 95-96 season now? I mean, it's *the greatest* season. And when Joey rejoined us, I don't think I've ever been so excited.
Gonna pick up the thread here as I messed it up yesterday. So this was his first goal in his second spell. A much needed goal because he'd struggled on his return.
His first league goal on his return took a bit longer. If you're counting, this is his 27th for #oufc. Away wins had been absent all season...but this was our second in a week. Joey was back.
Did I say he was back?
We were flying now. Nothing could stop us and Joey was at the heart of everything.
A minor blip.
No words.
A romp.
The greatest game I've ever seen. A woefully short highlights package. But Joey at his best in an absolutely critical win. From nowehere a few months earlier, were on the verge of the Championship.
This wasn't Joey's most productive season, goals-wise. But the goals he got were always valuable. And he always scored against Pompey.
Not sure what happened to Man City. Where are they now? But we always seemed to win there.
One of his best. #bend #joeybeauchamp #oufc
Final day of the season. Already promoted Barnsley came to town. It really was like watching Brazil, with our very own Pele running the show.
1997-98. A weird and wonderful season for #oufc. But #joeybeauchamp at his peak. And two belters here.
He was dealing exclusively in braces at the time. Shame he never got a hattrick. Two more belters.
Two more here.
One more of his 348 goals against Tranmere.
Gutted after this. We desperately needed a win because we were skint. Joey did all he could.
Goal. Assist. Both classic #joeybeachamp.
Now this was a #JoeyBeauchamp masterclass. There are long highlights on YouTube, which are well worth a watch as he absolutely tore QPR to shreds, live on Sky. Here's the short version.
PS. That's goals 50 and 51 in an Oxford shirt.
Big Mal returns. An emotional day. Who better to score then winner? https://t.co/oStIZlBHYp
A week later. Right foot, left foot. Two more. He was literally unstoppable. #joeybeauchamp #oufc
Goal. Assists.
This was his only ever goal that annoyed me. I wanted him to get to 20 in a season, but with no penalties. So we could say, 'he's got 20 goals and no penalties'. (It was his only penalty out of 77 goals for us.)
And so ended a crazy season of goals. 19 in all. Honestly, if he'd signed for Barcelona after this season, I wouldn't have been surprised. But of course, he stayed. Because he's #JoeyBeauchamp.
Although this is sometimes a hard watch after what's happened, it's also a really interesting glimpse into Joey's life, and that remarkable season in particular.
That, alas, was the best of Joey. The next season was an anti-climax. Injury took its toll. Possibly the arrival of Dean Windass meant he wasn't the big fish in a small pond. Here's the first goal to be missed by a cameraperson... just the net rippling.
Denis, what's the score? 1-0 Beauchamp.
50th league goal for the club, 62nd overall.
Needed a miracle 5-0 win and other results to go our way. Got the former, not the latter. Lots of rumours that this might be #joeybeauchamp's last game for us with big teams wanting to sign him so of course he scored.
But of course he stayed. Because he's Joey Beauchamp.
And this is where goal footage becomes patchy. The next two seasons were shite. And unsurprisingly, much of the footage doesn't exist online.
Joey Beauchamp's 64th goal for the Us, away @SUFCRootsHall on 10th August 1999 in the league cup doesn't exist anywhere. Shrimpers, can you help please? Anyone at @SkyFootball?
@SUFCRootsHall @SkyFootball I saw it live, but I'd never seen this goal since. His 65th, in a shock win at Everton. It doesn't exist on YouTube, but it's here in this lovely montage by @OUFCOfficial
Sad to say I can't find #JoeyBeauchamp's next goals either. 66 and 67 are missing too, from a 3-0 win over @BristolCity. Again, any help finding these greatly appreciated. RTs appreciated. Again, @SkyFootball? #oufc #bcfc
@BristolCity @SkyFootball This season is a disaster for footage. Joey Beauchamp's oal #68 is MIA too. 1-1 at home to @stokecity in 1999. Can anyone help find this goal? #oufc #scfc
FFS. How does this not exist? Joey Beauchamp's goal #69. Recall it was a scrappy thing in a vital 1-0 win at our neighbours dear friends @wwfcofficial. Does someone, anyone have footage anywhere? #oufc #wwfc @SkyFootball
Joey Beauchamp's goal #70 missing too. :-( It was in this game from early in the calamatous 2000-1 season. But, of course, local TV news edits out our goals. Can anyone at @WFCOfficial help with this?
@WFCOfficial Now this took a bit of finding, but it's worth it. One of his best. Eat that. (Just don't watch the rest of the 'highlights' #oufc #joeybeauchamp
Sadly, that was his last ever goal at the Manor. :-(
According to @Si_Watts this was one of Joey's favourite goals. A belter at Swansea (for whom he'd scored a couple of goals on loan right at the start of his career.)
I can't find goal #75 anywhere either, in a 3-1 defeat at @buryfcofficial (to whom we send best wishes). If anyone has footage of #JoeyBeauchamp's goal in theat game in 2001, it would help complete this little project.
Goal 76 and an assist here.
And here we are at the end. His first and only goal at the Kassam. Ravaged by injury, and deeply frustrated by a manager who just didn't play wingers, #JoeyBeauchamp's last game for #oufc, and he signed-off with a volley with that wand of a left foot.
I hope you've enjoyed this little project. Please like and share if you did, so we can spead the love. I really hope we can find the missing goals. @SkyFootball will have them, I'm sure, and they could make a lot of fans really happy if they could find the missing few goals.
Thanks for watching. Please make a donation to @MindCharity if you can. And if you're suffering, or one of your friend's might be, please reach out and talk. Joey Beauchamp brought so much joy to so many in his life, let's make something positive from his tragic death.
@threadreaderapp unroll please, thank you
Now guess what I've found. His first professional goal, on loan at Swansea.
And his second goal, in a bonkers game for Swansea at Bradford. #joey11 I remember Swansea tried to sign him after this. We, luckily, said 'no way'. A week or so later, he was back playing for us and would barely miss a game for years.
That goal against Swansea in full. This courtesy of @thehurmanator (who's actually a Wycombe fan, for his sins, but has been hugely helpful by donating a load of VHS's to @jimhendo76 do post online). Thanks to Jim and Dale.
Jim and Dale combined for this too (so you don't have to scroll through an hour of Wrexham highlights.)
The Stoke goal.
It absolutely breaks my heart that Joey's last three seasons as a player were amongst the worst four in the history of the club. Here's one of the missing goals, on a terrible pitch and in a terrible team.
So we're down to four missing Joey Beauchamp goals. Any help locating footage @SkyFootball @OUFCOfficial hugely appreciated.
@SUFCRootsHall (a) 1999-2000 league Cup
@BristolCity (h) 1999-2000 (2)
@WFCOfficial (a) 2000-2001
@SkyFootball @OUFCOfficial @SUFCRootsHall @BristolCity @WFCOfficial We have one of his two at Walsall. Courtesy Jim/Dale.
I totally missed that he scored twice in this game. So we're still missingfour goals.
Here we go #OUFC
Not his prettiest two goals. But here's the missing two vs Bristol City in the semi-rubbish 1999-2000 season. T
And here's the Everton goal in full.
What I've noticed is I''ve totally missed one of Joey's goals in my chart. @ColU_Official (away) in the dreadful 2000-1 season, and Sky don't have it either.
So, we're missing two goals. @SUFCRootsHall (a) 1999-2000 in the league cup, and @ColU_Official (a) 2000-1. If anyone can help find Joey's missing goals on a season review or on an old VHS, you'd make his family very happy (and me).
@threadreaderapp unscroll.
