Whoever invented the two-part jar lid needs to never be allowed to invent something again
I'm getting a lot of lectures on "canning" here, whatever the fuck that is. Meanwhile, here I am with oil all over my hands from trying to work with the inane two-part lid on this jar of peppers.

Psychologists use a term called "pluralistic ignorance" to describe the phenomenon of "no one believes, but everyone thinks that everyone believes." (h/t @AdamMGrant)

Here's a way to visualize it:
Imagine a group of people who hold a wide variety of viewpoints on a certain topic. We can represent what each person thinks with a brain—the color of the brain represents their viewpoint. This is what a rich diversity of thinking looks like. Image
Now let's put a circle around each brain. The color of the circle represents what each person is SAYING about the topic. When everyone is saying what they're really thinking, the circle matches the brain, allowing the brains talk to each other. The group forms a superbrain. Image

To honor Tom Brady's retirement, the 10 craziest Brady stats:

1. In his 20 seasons, he racked up by far the most regular season wins by a QB, going 243-73 overall.

He played the most games of any QB (316) AND had the highest win percentage (76.9%) of any QB with 100+ starts.
Still on #1, here's Brady's wins per season. His three worst seasons were 9-7 (once) and 10-6 (twice). Over 20 seasons, he averaged 12.1 wins a season.
2. Brady's teams made the playoffs 19 of his 20 seasons and won the division 18 times.
