BA. 2 THE NEXT VARIANT OF CONCERN? Shockwaves being made from the Pre-Print we discussed here on the page, experts are beginning to agree, BA. 2 is likely to receive the dreaded "VoC" title.
"In summary, our data suggests that BA. 2 would be the most concerning variant to global health." 🚨 this is coming from the Kato institute, one of the most prestigious in the world. This is very dire language.
"It is evident that the spread of BA. 2 can be a serious issue for global health in the near future" 🚨 keep in mind this is a prestigious institute using this tone, not me.
"Based on our findings, we propose that BA.2 should be recognized as a unique variant of concern. And this SARS-CoV-2 should be monitored in depth" 🚨
Current BA.2 hotspots: 1. Denmark 2. Germany 3.Sweden 4. UK is catching up to these other 3. Given the rate omicron spread, I give it 4 weeks before we start seeing this wave emerge globally. Stock up on rapid tests now!
Despite what hopium con artists want to tell you, to assume the vaccine will forever be able to defend against each new variant is delusional in my opinion. COVID-19s evolutionary path is clearly refining its immune escape abilities.
If we keep messing around and assuming the worst of this is over and the virus is out of tricks, how many times must you be fooled and misled that "this time is the last time guys we promise"?
If BA 2 indeed causes another massive global surge, this would be the 4th massive wave that we've seen wash over the planet. What is the exit strategy? The "endemicity" claim is laughable. We're far from out of this pandemic.
I stand by my claim I made earlier : the "live with COVID" strategy will be the biggest policy failure in history, and those that pushed for it to be so should sink with it. Vaccination is not enough on its own.
The only way out of this pandemic is slowing the spread of the virus, which would dramatically reduce the chance of mutations and new variants of concern. And the only way we can do that, is vaccines combined with previous prevention measures
Such as social distancing, high quality masks, capacity restrictions, fixing ventilation in indoor spaces, educating the public on airborne disease, then and only then can we slow this horrific process down until we create a sterilizing vaccine.
But maintaining this attitude that as long as your vaccinated there is no risk to any new variant is suicidal. What happens when one of these variants can completely evade the mRNA? I am triple boosted, fully support vaccines.
I also understand the nature of viruses, and know that by letting it continually infect both vax and unvax, the virus is learning from our immune response and learning how to evade that response. It's only a matter of time until mRNA is bypassed.
Which would be a truly nightmarish situation, as the vaccines are currently very effective at reducing chance of hospitalization and especially at reducing chance of death. We must get it together.
** Kei Sato from the renown Sato Labs led this bombshell study** fixing a spelling error I made on my 2nd tweet in the thread. I do apologize, I admit I was just trying to crank this information out!
Quotes in the picture above were taken from this article news.com.au/world/coronavi… again, to summarize, Sato Labs recommended that Omicron BA.2 be added as the new "Variant of Concern"

BREAKING : Another worrying variant is emerging in Denmark, BA.2 + H78Y, has appeared in recent genomic surveillance, with a mutation found on the ORF3A spike protein, which is believed by many experts to induce apoptosis in cells (cell destruction) (chart from @DrEricDing )
According to this study, ORF3A protein is associated with COVID-19s immune evasive capacities, given that this H78Y mutation is on this spike protein, we must monitor closely the impact to vaccines and prior BA 1 infection. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
The ORF3A protein is also associated with apoptosis, which is cell death due to the protein using cells as host to further replicate itself. This ties into the immune evasive properties discussed above. It is also tied into the viruses pathogenicity 👇 shorturl.at/derwH

Deaths approaching all time highs over in BA 2 ravaged Denmark. According to a pre print out of Japan, BA 2 is more infectious and lethal than BA 1. You can see the evidence of this publication in the image below.
If you missed the Japan publication on Omicron BA.2, here is a beautiful analysis of the study by @EnemyInAState , a dear colleague of mine. Please read and share! This is crucial information, and we can see its impacts in live time in Denmark. 👇
Despite the US large # of deaths, if we gauge on a per capita basis, Denmark is about to surpass the US level of deaths from COVID-19, with a population over 57 times smaller than the US, this is not something to be proud of.

BREAKING: President Joe Biden has extended the COVID-19 national emergency for the US, citing "a continued threat to public health and safety" , breaking away from Ally nations who are seemingly abandoning all COVID protocol.
This is in stark contrast to European ally nations who are getting rid of all COVID-19 restrictions entirely, and claiming COVID-19 is NOT a threat to public health and safety. Let's take a look at a few of them now. Denmark is definitely number one. bbc.com/news/world-eur…
England is set to lift all restrictions "in the coming weeks" in a campaign being pushed by Boris Johnson. nytimes.com/2022/02/09/wor…
