#DadxianWeek Day 4

Loving the idea of Wei Wuxian, self-proclaimed bachelor for life. He’s accepted he’s not made for kids or family! I mean, he likes kids, sure, but SURELY he can’t be responsible enough for a very small being!

Obviously, he’s proven wrong.

Wwx’s life had been a roller coaster, but now he’s in his 30s, in the tech business and making a shit ton of money. He buys himself a bachelor’s house in the same village as his sister bcos ofc he would stay close to her now that he could afford it!

He builds his house and he makes it super effing cool, which also means it’s most likely unsafe for both drunks and children alike.

And, anyway. It doesn’t matter! He’s not planning on having a kid anyway. He’s not meant for it! He likes his freedom! He can make the house as ridiculous as he likes and it’s fine!

He’s quickly proven wrong when Wen Ning drops off his baby cousin on him.

It’s kind of a long story.
(A-Yuan’s parents had died in a terrible accident, and the Wens had just picked him up from social services to bring him to Popo who can take care of him better, but Popo had fractured her hip and now Wen Ning has to go there for her surgery and—)

“Just a few weeks, Ge! I’m so sorry, there’s just no one we can leave him with—“

“It’s fine, A-Ning! We’ll live. Say hi to Popo for me.”

And then Wei Ying now has small little A-Yuan in his arms.

He’s not even a month old yet. His neck can’t even support the weight of his head! Wei Ying thinks he can fit him in his hand, actually. Just. So. Small.

And yet when Wei Ying adjusts his hold to shifts him closer to his chest, he smiles.

Wei Ying is now immediately in love.

He settles A-Yuan in a crib he bought on short notice (this morning, picked out with help from Jyl), feeds him milk like he had read on the new mom blogs he binged read the night before (right after Wn called), and changes A-Yuan’s diapers like a pro (with a little Youtube help).

Jiang Cheng thinks he won’t last a day. Jiang Yanli is worried, but is more optimistic.

They visit him on the night of the first day and are both surprised and elated to find out that he’s doing extremely fucking well, actually.

There’s a UV Dishwasher thing for A-Yuan’s bottles in the kitchen. There are no dishes to be seen around the sink, or even the kitchen nook. A-Yuan is sound asleep in his crib. Wei Ying himself has a bit of milk vomit from when he burped A-Yuan just a few minutes ago,

but relatively, he doesn’t look any worse than when he’s trapped in front of his computer.

Dare they even say, he looks.. better?

His smile is wide and his eyes are shining and Jiang Cheng is surprised and kind of weirded out. He hasn’t seen his brother this happy in a while.

Jiang Yanli sort of knew, though, that his brother is somehow made for this.

They visit him everyday the first few days, just in case the novelty wears off and everything is /not/ fine, actually. But every day, they see nothing but Wei Ying being absolutely enamored with this small baby not even the size of his arm.

The day they knew Wei Ying was a complete goner for this baby was around three days after, when A-Yuan cooed after Wei Ying kissed his forehead.

Jiang Cheng saw his brother physically melt, even with a little bit of poo on his shirt. He had to pry Wei Ying off the floor.

Anyway, it took a while and a lot of turns, but Wei Yuan is officially adopted a year later. 🥺💖

(To be honest, though, Wei Ying had started to think of renovating his house to be more child-friendly the moment he had A-Yuan in his arms.)

Extra:
Lwj is the architect who ends up renovating the house into the ultimate family friendly abode wwx now wants it to be. Lwj has always known he’s wnated a family, so when he sees wwx it’s like:
“Oh, a husband that comes with a free son? Yes, please.”
