Greg Abbot has officially directed Family and Protective Services to begin investigating all trans children in Texas and prosecuting their parents as child abusers.
He has also instructed all teachers, doctors, and caregivers to begin reporting any trans students they see.
If you hare a "duty to report" in Texas, Texas is officially saying that you have to report trans youth to family and protective services or risk losing your job.
Unsurprisingly, Texas cites Tavistock vs Bell, the UK case that was later OVERTURNED that banned youth from transition care in the UK for a short time.
If you are the parent of a trans kid in Texas, NOW is the time to get out.
We will help you in any way we can. Please reach out to me and I'll make sure to signal boost your GFMs.
If you are in Texas, the safest nearby state to go to is likely going to be Colorado and New Mexico.
If you are a parent with a trans kid and are looking to escape these issues from ever popping up again in your life, any state in dark green is best.
When we say that there is a trans genocide going on, this is what we are talking about. It's been slowly bubbling and percolating to the surface, and in the enclaves of anti-trans governments, they are deciding now is their time to act.
I am heartened by the massive number of influential cis people sharing this break-glass moment against trans rights.
But I am also a little upset, because this has been 3 years in the making and we've been BEGGING cis people to come to our aid and signal boost this stuff.
If you are cis, and surprised by this, ask yourself why.
And then promptly go ahead and start following the accounts that will let you NOT be surprised next time. There are MANY more states planning this.
Thank you for all of your messages, offerings of help, organizing, etc.
I need to step away for a few hours. I am still recovering from surgery and I need to ensure that I have enough spoons to continue fighting on.
I will read the rest of my messages later today.
If you need immediate legal help, your best bets are the following... I can't promise they will help, but I have been told that they are aware and currently organizing help:
I am going to keep a separate thread of trans gofundmes for people who need assistance relocating their trans children out of Texas here. Please feel free to post your own.
Texas has declared its intention to begin kidnapping trans youth from their parents.
Where are our allies? Why are they silent?
Biden? Harris?
Any senator? AOC?
What about "left media"?
Joy Reid? Rachel Maddow?
It's crickets out there.
Do better, cis people.
The trans military ban got 100x the coverage, which affected a small handful of military service members (and which still has not been completely solved, despite what media reports may have said).
This is families being broken apart for no other reason than beign different.
We have been sounding the alarm for three years now when these bills first started exploding through our state legislatures.
This has been the biggest, most systematic attack on transgender people in our history.
Saying that trans women were "socialized male" is dumb.
God knows whatever socialization they tried surely didn't work very well. Clearly. Look at us, lol.
But it also misses that a lot of us were internally picking up the social cues meant for girls and incorporating them.
At any rate, in my particular case, I spent most of my adolescence online as a girl and that _was_ my socialization.
And any "socialization" in real life was just me avoiding people and tuning out the grey-shade life that was me "in the real world."
After my transition I found that I slipped very easily into existence as a woman. I was subconsciously collecting all of the tools, social cues, expectations, etc.
Even the problematic ones, which a lot of us, like a lot of cis women, have to deprogram from ourselves.
She keeps misgendering me. Then apologizing. I told her to try harder. She then said that "look, my beliefs are different than yours."
So I told her to stop calling me and I think I'm cutting her off. :-/
Its been 3 years.
She keeps trying to say she's "trying" but I know she's not and when I confronted her about it, she defaulted to "my beliefs are different," not "I will try harder."
She's never going to gender me properly and I can't stand being dragged back.
Whelp, I let her know I am having GRS next month.
Because why not just lay all the cards on the table.
It sucks to have sat here all last year knowing exactly what was coming as soon as 2022 hit in terms of anti-trans legislation while feeling powerless to stop it.
Cis allies, now is where you need to show you're true allies to us.
We're drowning and being thrown cinder blocks.
In just 24 hours, we have been subject to so many bills seeking to ban our existence, remove us from public space, and detransition us...
Indiana wants to make it illegal for us to enter restrooms:
West Virginia becomes the 7th state to propose a law to detransition trans teens and jail doctors that give them the lifesaving care they need. WV HB2171 would make kids, many whom are stealth and nobody knows they are trans, go through the wrong puberty in front of their peers.
This care is LIFESAVING for trans youth. A new study last week showed this reduces their suicide rates by 40%. 600 trans kids who did not get this care attempted suicide in a single study.
