(1/4 🧵) The Laura Shin Forbes article about the 2016 hack of ‘The DAO’ highlights an example of a decentralized governance model that didn't work. It’s more important than ever to highlight DAOs that have achieved effective decentralized governance.
(2/4) While the events of the article transpired, there was already a DAO in existence that had achieved decentralized governance successfully – before 'The DAO' was even created – #Dash. Dash was the first ever decentralized autonomous organization.
(3/4) The 1st Dash superblock was mined on Sep. 7, 2015. Before the term “decentralized autonomous organization” was even coined, Dash was already successfully putting the concept into practice. More than 6 years later, the Dash DAO continues to operate.
(4/4) Today, the Dash network is comprised of ~20 funded organizations that are each their own separate entities, and work together to run the network – each with its own function. #Dash Core Group is proud to be a member of the first DAO.
