In this thread I'm focusing on 1) the WILL of the Ukrainian people and 2) the truth about Russian soldiers being manipulated into conducting Putin's war. Others are focusing on military power alone. It's also important to look at willpower, mindset, and intent. 1/x
First, Kyiv, 2/25. A woman survives her car being run over by a Russian tank. Ukrainian residents extricate her from the car. 2/x
Here, the footage of the Russian tank running over the woman's car. Deliberately, wantonly. Putin underestimated Ukrainian resistance, so Russian soldiers get more desperate, more brutal. 3/
There are many scenes where Russian forces abandoned their vehicles. Here, an armored personnel carrier is found abandoned in the Olkhova part of Kharkiv 4/
The inside of an abandoned Russian tank, 2/25/22. Not much room in there. 5/ ImageImage
Southern Ukraine is under siege, but continues to resist. Near Oleshki, a firefight ended in a captured Russian tank and dead Russian soldiers. [[ALERT: dead bodies, but no closeups, not gory.]] 6/
Sometimes small steps achieve a lot. These devices are used as target beacons for Russian missiles. Destroy one of these, prevent a missile from reaching you. 7/ Image
Willpower also means sacrificing yourself for a tactical objective. Ukrainian Marine Corp Engineer Skakun Vitaly placed landmines on a bridge at Genichesk to halt a Russian tank convoy. He didn't have time to get away, so he messaged his brothers and said goodbye. 8/ Image
The inverse of the will to resist can be the will to deceive. In Kyiv's Obolon district, Ukrainian forces defeated a Russian tank & Russian soldiers wearing poorly-copied Ukraine militiary uniforms. The false flag op was stopped. [[ALERT: dead bodies, no closeups, not gory]] 9/
In Southern Ukraine today, near Kherson, a large number of advancing Russian tanks were defeated and burned. 10/
I keep seeing scenes of abandoned tanks. We can't know conclusively what the soldiers intended to do, since they're nowhere to be seen. In any event, the Ukraine army is getting some free tanks. 11/
But the Ukrainian will to resist is strong. Here's a military enlistment facility on 2/24. If these people were reluctant to serve, they wouldn't saturate the line like this. They want in. 12/ Image
And joining the military pays off & frees up soldiers with advanced training to do other things. Here's a chase between a fleeing Russian Su-27 (seen first) and a Ukrainian MiG-29. Ukraine 1, Russia 0. 13/
Wow, I didn't realize that so many guns would be widely available this quickly. This is Kyiv earlier today. 14/
Ukrainians are throwing themselves into the path of high-speed Russian convoys in order to stop them. Wow. 15/
A video of a Kyiv military enlistment office. They're signing up. 16/
A captured Russian soldier answers questions. It's clear that many members of the Russian military do not support Putin's cause. This is encouraging. 17/
Urban warfare can be horrific for all sides. One advantage for a city with tall residential buildings is that people can shoot at invading tanks. This Russian tank took fire from all directions, and was indeed stopped. 18/
Resistance can also be assisted with donations. Apparently the makers (producers? directors? not sure) of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 have donated $245,000 to the Ukrainian army. 19/
This is the true Ghost of Kiev,. He's just a guy, pilots a MiG-29, and shot down 6 planes/missiles across 30 hours. Facts matter. I don't think there's a credible sequence of his activities filmed from the ground (yet). 20/ Image
The large-scale bombing of Kyiv has begun. But Kyiv fights back, bit by bit. A Russian "Z" vehicle, along with its driver, are at an end. He was affiliated with the Chechnyan Kadyrovites. I wonder whether he even believed in Putin's cause. [[CAUTION: DEAD BODY, GRAPHIC]] 21/
Some heavy-duty military equipment + supplies arrive at Kyiv today. Supplied by the US? 22/ Image
City of DNIPRO. Russian soldiers are placing these fiducial targeting marks on homes so missiles can target them. This means Putin wants mass killings. THESE MARKS CAN BE SEEN THROUGH WALLS because of how they retain heat. Taking them inside isn't good enough. Rip them up. 23/ ImageImage
A followup on this one. Objects radiate heat that can be seen through "near infrared cameras" and "thermal imaging cameras" which even civilians can buy. This is what a civilian camera can see. ANY difference in heat can be seen, so the targeting marks must be destroyed. 23a/ Image
Last followup. What you're seeing in this picture is finished drywall, and the wall studs going up vertically, and the heat in an electrical wire from an outlet. The wall is covered. The objects are INSIDE the wall. Militaries have far superior versions of these cameras. 23b/ Image
Amazing. It is uncommon for any military to let POWs call their mothers beforehand. The Ukraine military shows kindness in ways I generally wouldn't expect during war. 24/
I'm hearing reports that Israeli soldiers, on their own initiative, are in Ukraine. Not verified yet. 25/
Also reports that Poland is sending further arms:

- FGM-148 Javelin portable anti-tank missiles, so-called "fire-and-forget"
- Ten thousand FB Radom MSBS Grot assault rifles

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FB_MSBS_G…

26/
This Russian POW describes his tactical mission. Every little bit of information helps. 27/
Meanwhile, the US Global Hawk spyplane continues to patrol the Black Sea from 53,000 feet. This is live. 28/ Image
And Putin and Lavrov, finally added to the US' foreign sanctions list. 29/ Image
It's 3:15 a.m. Kyiv time. There are two kinds of people tweeting tonight. People tweeting about Russian military power. And people tweeting about Ukrainian willpower. Watch us. Judge us. These are the critical hours. You know which one I am. 30/
In the midst of the Russian "push" into Kyiv, a Russian soldier is captured. And like many, he didn't expect to be here. Ukrainians let him call his parents. "Dad, I'm in captivity. I'm in captivity, mom. In Ukraine." The parents respond: "How did you get there?
Poland welcomes people regardless of passports or other documentation. Amazing, such solidarity.

/32
The attention of the American people is modulated by its media. Tonight @MSNBC and @CNN are live all night (a Friday going into a weekend!). Americans are paying attention and more likely will support military intervention at some point. We have skin in the game. 33/
Everyone's showing videos of the missile strike on the Kyiv apartment building. I'll only add this one -- captured by one resident's surveillance system. 34/
Citizens across Ukraine showed today that they're capable of systemic resistance. Here, Russians tried to hide overnight in a Kyiv basement. The residents found them. 35/
I have been (and will continue to be) putting up some POW videos. This one is different. Here in Sumy, it's not the Ukraine military or police -- but CITIZENS -- who captured a Russian soldier. They're asking why you did this, what you want, etc. The Russian soldier cries. 36/
This civilian in central Kherson talks about what he's doing and why. He is clearly emotional, but I don't think he's overwhelmed. I think he appreciates the gravity of what's at stake, and how critical his efforts are. 37/
News that troops from Chechnya may be coming to commit atrocities doesn't say anything new about how desperate Putin is. He needs "help." But SURPRISE. There are free Chechens in Europe, and at this very rally they heard the news too. They're on their way to defend Ukraine. 38/
I've seen some Western commentators dismiss the Ukrainian military's advice for citizens to build molotov cocktails. But they're doing it. Here, in Nedrigailvo, a passing Russian truck takes a hit. 39/
LIVE. Current firefight in Kyiv tonight near the Povitroflotsky bridge. Tracer bullets fly across with the Ukraine Defense Ministry building in the background. 40/
But even with combat in the streets, children are born in bomb shelters. This child born last night. 41/ Image
Morning comes, and residents clean up and start over again. This past morning in Kyiv. 42/
People search buildings for the wounded & bring them out to be treated. 43/
At night, Russian scouts are searching through forests and streets for new targets. Some, like this guy, are captured, along with his equipment. The only intent here can be to set up targets for killing the innocent. 44/ ImageImageImageImage
The kindness shown by Ukrainians continues to humble me. These are Ukrainians driving down a road with Russian tanks that have run out of fuel. They're not afraid of them. 45/
And then on the other side is Anonymous, declaring war on Putin personally and taunting him. Oh my. 46/
This one is affectionally called "Тікають с*ки" -- B*tches Are Ticking.

The ladies of Ichny didn't let the Russians through. Well done, с*ки :) 47/
Ukraine military says in the daytime of 2/26, Ukrainian forces...
- shot down 11 helicopters
- 3 super-modern Su-30SM fighter plane
- 2 old Su-25 ground support aircraft
- yet another Il-76MD transport plane full of Russian soldiers.

48/
The Javelins and other Western-supplied armaments are getting to the soldiers. These are portable weapons that can blow up tanks and armored vehicles. A lot of the "burnt out Russian columns" scenes are due to these types of weapons. Morale is good. 49/
The Ukrainian commanders are resolute. This commander deployed in Mariupol, which has seen a lot of combat, makes an appeal to Russians to save themselves. 50/
Adding in the Javelins and other tank-busting weapons the US and others are supplying to Ukrainians make for scenes like this one in Kharkiv. Burned vehicles (and dead Russian soldiers) everywhere you look. It's not pretty. [[NOT GRAPHIC]] 51/
Night-time is coming to Ukraine now. Armed civilians in Odessa are ready. 52/
At night, Russian soldiers are placing these fiducial trackers on homes, and later troops come in and blow up the houses using the trackers. Destroy the trackers. [[CAUTION: DEAD BODY, GRAPHIC]] 53/ ImageImageImageImage
This is stunning. Ukrainians who recently completed service in the French Foreign Legion are en route. And the French Foreign Legion is granting leave to those on active duty so they can go, and giving them first aid kits and other supplies. 54/ Image
Ukrainians with anti-tank and armor-piercing portable missiles are very much in play. Far from a fearful population, this guy looks more like The Terminator. He'll be back. 55/
Live now, very tough firefight in the outskirts of Kharkiv. 56/
Russian paratroopers parachuting down into the Borshchahivka neighborhood of Kyiv. 57/ Image
The popular Dinamo Kyiv Football Club is fully armed and is out there fighting now. 58/ Image
Anonymous hacked Russian State TV to broadcast the truth about Ukraine. Wow. 59/

Here is the awesome power of an NLAW anti-tank anti-armor weapon being supplied by the British ("next-generation light anti-armour weapon").

The tank is demolished. 67/
A cartoon warning Russian soldiers that sunflowers await. 68/

(I have to say, this sunflower theme is great. It's a pretty flower, it's prevalent, and factually it is foreseeable that a dead body left unburied or buried in a shallow grave would be subject to sunflower growth.) Image
In the early morning of February 27, Ukrainian soldiers attack a Russian convoy around Chernobaekva, Kherson region, and take POWs. 69/
In the early morning in Kharkiv, Ukrainian soldiers disabled a convoy of light-armor Russian vehicles and captured POWs. 70/
In the morning of February 27, Ukrainian medics are treating the injuries of Russian POWs, who say they want to fight for Ukraine when they recover. They didn't realize their commanders were sending them to Ukraine. 71/
Russians fired a missile from miles away & hit Kharkiv. But Ukranian soldiers were there on the ground, and repelled Russian advances. Ukraine still holds Kharkiv. Here, in the morning of 2/27, they survey the dead Russian soldiers. [[CAUTION: DEAD BODIES, VERY GRAPHIC]]

The Ukraine Ministry of Internal Affairs now has a website for Russian families to search for family members serving as Russian soldiers. They're publishing photos, videos, and documents. Amazing. 78/

In Serebryany, Ukrainian forces decisively won a battle against Russian tanks and armored vehicles. It seems clear that the armaments supplied by other countries are making a difference. This could never have been possible with common weapons. [[NOT GRAPHIC]] 79/ ImageImageImageImage

OHHHHHH SHIT! The Bayraktar attack drones from Turkey have arrived in style. Listen to the celebration in the voices of the Ukrainians piloting this one as a Russian tank is obliterated in the Malina district of the Zhytomyr region. Turn the sound UP. 82/
Evening, Feb 27. Doctors from Israel are en route to Ukraine. 83/ Image
OMFG. Russian soldiers temporarily left their MT-LB amphibious armored vehicle on a dirt road. Local villagers hooked it up and towed it away! The Russians tried to chase them down. It'll be good on the farm I guess.

84/
Alfred Koch, former Deputy Prime Minister of Russia for Welfare, has just published this scathing critique of Putin. The translation is rough, and I'm sure someone will publish a better one soon. But his statement is POTENT. 85/ ImageImageImage
In Russian, from Альфред Кох today. 87/ ImageImageImage
One of the paramilitary Chechens supplementing Russian forces complains about Ukrainian resistance.

“We took one village here, but they drove us back. I had to retreat. It's not 2014 right now. Now 120 (shells) will fly out of nowhere. A drone is circling above us."

88/
And POWs captured today still talkin... 89/

Ukrainian volunteer captures cache of Russian warplans & publishes examples, along with a statement that really speaks for itself.

No idea what these mean, but I bet Putin did 4 hours ago when the Ukrainian volunteer published them (and many others). 96/ ImageImageImage
OMFG. This is in *MOSCOW* tonight. A car crashes into a fence in Pushkin Square. It says "PEOPLE, GET UP!" and "THIS IS WAR". The car caught fire after crashing. Don't know if that was intentional, don't know about the driver.

Wow. /97

In the morning of March 1, Pres. Zelenskyy announced the establishment of an official military district of Kyiv. Gen. Nikolai Zhernov will lead the military district. Vitali Klitschko will remain Kyiv's mayor, but the civilian government will have restructured powers. 129/

March 1. Russians appear not to be collecting their dead. It's a problem for Ukraine, too, since bodies signal the presence of the Ukrainians who defeated them, and clutter the terrain. Here, a dead Russian soldier is partially covered with vegetation. [[CAUTION: GRAPHIC]] 133/ Image
Ukranians want the outside world to join their fight. Residents appear overhwelmingly in favor of EU membership and seem to see it not so much as a lifeline to a desperate population, but as a new source of ass-kicking to complement their own. More "Join us!" than "help us." 134/
A common characterization of what the Russian state under Putin "is": a place where militaries carry out demilitarization; where Nazis carry out de-Nazification; and where Nazis have an anti-fascism legislature. That's the Russian government. 135/
March 1, the Ukraine military defeated a Russian column of tanks overnight near Trostyanets in the Sumy region. Some tanks are damaged, some are undamaged and can be immediately repurposed. In the morning, soldiers survey and harvest. 136/ ImageImageImageImage
March 1. The more communications are strained, the harder to verify reported information. Perhaps, for the first time, Ukrainian forces attacked a target INSIDE RUSSIA. Locals saw a burning IL-76 transport at Taganrog air base. UKR military hasn't confirmed. 137/

March 21. This POW interrogation is in a FEAR DOWN/EGO DOWN posture. Ukrainian Security Svcs poses hypotheticals about shooting civilians. He admits that shooting unarmed civilians would violate the Geneva Conventions. Then the hypothetical changes. 419a/
(cont'd) But if he breaks into a home and the occupants defend themselves? He demurs. He knows he has orders to shoot, but can't defend it. The point is to diminish his ego, conditioning him for more invasive questioning. The interrogation proceeds. 419b/

March 20. Several intercepted calls between Russian soldiers still in the field and relatives, with Ukrainan-added subtitles. One cries. "If they give the command 'go ahead' ... we all die. If they give the command 'go back' we all die also. We have no way out." 437/
March 23. "Be not deceived." We see so many images of Mariupol's damage. But this morning, the Ukraine National Guard still fighting there challenges us to see something else in these images. They released a video (next tweet) along with a message: Mariupol is still alive. 438/ Image
March 23. "Mariupol today. It is still alive! People are breathing here, hungry, in basements of burning houses. Their hearts are still beating under the rubble, in hope of salvation. Our Mariupol still feels pain, but it is still a living organism waiting to be saved!" 439/

(cont'd) This was one of many secret experiments on adults & children conducted by psychologist Valeria Mukhina. Soviets "commissioned" director Felix Sobolev to compile a film of some of the tests, titled "Me and Others." They banned their own film after a brief release. 445b/

(cont'd) This happens with natural disasters, too. Dogs are a frequent vector. Often the first body parts to naturally detach are the feet. We give pet dogs "bones" to chew on; detached feet are the real thing. Unless this gets cleaned up, we will be seeing a lot of feet. 474b/
March 25. This is Mariupol. The Ukrainian National Guard destroys 2 ballistic missile vehicles, as observed by a surveillance drone. Mariupol is still fighting. 475/

March 26. Yet another demonstration that a motivated army of soldiers who believe in their cause will fight as long as it takes. 493/

SUBTITLES. Pres. Zelenskyy's March 26 address. "Ukraine is united in its desire to live freely. That is why our "tractor troops"-Ukrainian farmers-take Rus equipment in the fields and give it to our military, in particular the latest models that Rus has tried to keep secret." 1/6
"I spoke to the Polish President twice today about planes for Ukraine, tanks, anti-missile defense, anti-ship weaponry. This is for freedom not only in Ukraine, but in Europe. It cannot be acceptable to put Eastern Europe at risk only because they left 1% in their hangars." 2/6
"Partners need to step up assistance. After speaking to the Polish president, I spoke with the defenders of Mariupol. I wish at least a percentage of their courage for those who have been thinking for 31 days how to transfer a few dozen planes and tanks." 3/6

NEW: From Pres. Zelenskyy, a video showing & discussing the Nazi and Russian advances against Europe.

"When facing the evil, it's hard to believe the reality of it." 1/2
2/2
Only thing I would note is that much of the "1943" footage of atrocities, mass graves, was actually filmed by US and British armies in 1945 after liberating Germany. It comes from an hour-long compilation of military films I've been debating about posting.

SUBTITLES. Pres. Zelenskyy's March 24 address to the G7. "Russia was admitted to the G8 before it proved itself, and now you are the G7. You and I do not know how many urgent summits will be needed before the problems Russia creates are resolved." 1/4
"This is just the beginning. There may be a global food crisis. The longer Ukraine is not at peace, the less food the world market will receive from Ukraine. This will result in political destabilization. It is better to stop Russia's military machine first." 2/4
It is better to give Ukraine weapons now than to other countries later: Georgia, Moldova, the Baltic states, Poland, and Central Asia. Democracies must be able to defend themselves. Freedom must be armed. Life must overcome death. We propose a new alliance: the U-24." 3/4

Ukraine's intelligence agency, GUR, has published additional details on the internment regime Russia has established thus far.
1) Ukranians are being taken en masse to a detention camp in Dokuchaevsk, in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. Combatants are redirected.
1/
The term of art for these intake facilities is "фільтраційних таборів" or "filtration camps."

We'll likely need to remember that there were many classes of Nazi camps. Only one was "concentration camp," although that term is now used generically to refer to all of them.
2/
2) At the Dokuchaevsk intake camp, all identification and documentation is confiscated from internees.
3) Other than combatants, all remaining men, women, and children are transported to camps within Russian borders, principally to Taganrog and Krasnodar.

"Modern Europe is built on clear principles. There can be no forced border revision. Every nation has the right to choose its future. Russia has decided that if Ukraine fails to endure, everything modern living people value will be lost, everything valued by any free people." 2/5
"You are in danger because only the sea separates you. Russia state TV already reports how Russia occupies your Gotland island. Because a military base will help it capture the Baltic states. Russia went to war with Ukraine because it expects to destroy freedom in Europe." 3/5
