I do not mean this flippantly, but I will now, for the rest of my life, always judge a politician by whether or not they are willing to literally pick up a rifle and defend their city with their own lives. There is no greater sacrifice you can make.
Vladimir Putin, the murderer, the coward, hides in his bunker. Ukraine's president, ex-president, Kyiv's mayor and even the current heavyweight boxing champion of the world. All of them are here fighting for their lives & the future of their children.
This is the most violent Putin has ever been, but it is also the weakest he has ever looked. No matter what happens tomorrow, no matter what world we wake up to, Zelenskiy's defiance, his steadfastness, his audacity, they have set an example for future generations.
It is humbling to be in this city in this moment, even if they end up being the last moments we ever share. I am thankful I lived to see these selfless acts of courage with my own eyes.

Hearing horrifying reports of Middle Eastern & African civilians living in Ukraine being treated atrociously as they reach the borders of the EU. This is a crime that must be condemned in the strongest possible terms, all of them need our help fleeing this violence immediately.
I can’t corroborate or report on these things because I am very far away from those borders, but I trust the journalists and human rights activists reporting on these issues. Now is a time to show unequivocal solidarity with all people fleeing war, regardless of colour or creed.
Solidarity isn’t thoughts and prayers - it’s sending material aid. Get to border crossings and assist them.

Driving through the city, I can’t take pictures, but the main roads are all blockaded. A mixture of volunteers and regular troops man these barricades, no cars can move through the streets here without being stopped. These barricades are everywhere.
I can’t risk publishing photos of these defensive positions for obvious reasons, but Russian tanks are going to meet fierce resistance on these streets. I am told even some of the smaller ones have hidden anti-tank weaponry. They’re planning on defending every single inch here.
We’re being stopped at every single point, the atmosphere is very tense, but as soon as we establish our identities the men smile and wave us on. Some of them are even sharing jokes with our driver, morale here is high.

There are people on here who spent weeks leading up to this carrying water for Putin, I won’t give them the pleasure of naming them, who are very angry that I am here, and very angry that the world is watching what is happening here instead of listening to them. Good.
There is no greater honour I could ever receive than the hatred I endure from cowards like these. I hope they continue to tweet my name in fury, I hope my name burns like acid in their mouths until I finally shuffle loose this mortal coil.
I hope, when it finally happens, they celebrate my demise, there could be no more fitting a tribute to my life’s work than the joy of my enemies that they are finally free of me.

As I said. We are here. We will remain here.

The sky is burning orange in the distance a few miles away from me. I can’t see behind the buildings as to what is causing it
I can also see this. It’s much brighter than the camera is depicting.
Two more loud explosions

I prefer the painting with the eyes drawn on, there, I said it.
I am always in favour of more stuff like this happening, it's never not funny.
Add his credit to the original painting and move on. I wasn't interested in seeing it before, but you bet I'd pay 5 Euro to see it tomorrow with the googly eyes left on.

In 2012 Seumas Milne wrote that the US government were perpetuating a "falsehood" that the Assad regime was going to use chemical weapons. In 2013 once they finally did use chemical weapons killing 1500 people, Milne dedicated 5 paragraphs to his thoughts on whether rebels did it
The truth is Owen's allies have a long history of actually making excuses for, or even outright defending, catastrophic wars. His entire facade is built around you never knowing that, and gaslighting you into believing otherwise.
Don't believe me? Here's how Owen describes Seumas Milne's words, and here is the actual text that Seumas wrote. Can you see how absurd and farcical this game really is? It requires you to not bother reading anything.
