The Snake Island story was fake, the Ghost of Kyiv was fake, the photos of Zelensky in body armor were fake (they're old pictures being circulated as new ones)
Ukraine-Russia is World War Reddit
Zelensky is still in Ukraine, so that's good, but many people have already matched the viral images of him in kit on the "front lines" with older ones from a while ago before the conflicted started
You have to be skeptical of every sensational meme and breaking news story
The only really insane pro-Russian psyop I've seen appears to show Avoz units hurting civilians, but it looks so staged that it's hard to believe that it's not just Russians pretending to be Ukrainians
Another example: there is a 99.9% chance that's an airsoft rifle and I'm pretty sure this is from an older photo op
Here's another one that went viral because it suggested the Chechens had surrendered without a fight
Afterward, this journalist added a third tweet that added the missing context. Who is the audience for this?
I'm pointing this out because much of it seems geared toward getting Americans involved. There is a legitimate reason to be skeptical of these things and anyone who tells you that being so makes you pro-Putin by default is either an idiot or acting in bad faith
Here is an account with 500K followers posting *video game footage* as evidence of Ukraine shooting down Russian aircraft
The account is dedicated to fighting Russian propaganda
This is what happens when you go along with dumb shit like "pouring out vodka to own Putin," and you're going to see more attacks on American citizens with Russian ancestry before this is over.
Americans have allowed themselves to be psyoped into literally attacking each other by warmongers in the media
It is actually horrifying how conservatives and liberals were so quickly and effectively programmed by Marvel movie themes into supporting escalation with Russia and now even attacks on other Americans who happen to be Russian
Ukraine-Russia resulted in a catastrophic information failure. People, including blue checks, deliberately sharing fake news, memes, and updates one the one hand, and then actually *demanding* no one push back on obvious propaganda aimed at NATO allies and the US on the other
Never seen anything like this before in any conflict in my life. This really is a new era of information warfare where the meme is more important than reality for people
Peoples' behavior toward this stuff really does mimic entertainment: they get angry when you point out some obviously fake thing is fake (ghost of Kiev), like you just got up and turned off the television
Conservatives are walking into a trap by going along with the pro-war sentiment. They're empowering people who hate them. At this rate, to be anti-interventionist will be the same as being "pro January 6": a moral reprobate, unpatriotic, etc.
You're basically handing a loaded gun to people who will use it to character assassinate those asking for restraint. Disagreeing with them will make you pro-Putin, and they're going to do what they can to make it hurt.
Everyone and everything that conservatives rightly learned to hate and distrust over the last few years -- they are now trusting and enabling them, from neocons to the mainstream media.
I am hesitant to comment on any of these stories because it is so difficult to know what is and is not true
If you're angry that I'm pointing out the Ukrainians are actually *alive*, then there might actually be something wrong with you. Would it be better if they were dead?
"A day after Russia invaded Ukraine, conservatives...sounded more like the anti-war wing of the Democratic Party and a lot less like party neocons of the past..."
“I used to be a staunch defender of our overseas allies and any attack on them was an attack on us,” said Walt Davis, who traveled to the annual Conservative Political Action Conference from Ohio. “But we can’t do that anymore. We’re exhausted.”
“I don’t want to see our military involved,” said Candice Vega, of South Carolina. “I don’t think this would have happened if Trump was in office. I think we have some really shady dealings going on in Ukraine and I don’t want to see any of our troops in the midst of all that.”
My feature for @theammind: the Great Replacement, i.e., the racial and cultural dispossession of white people in America, is real and it serves a purpose for a ruling class that is hostile to most Americans + what is to be done. americanmind.org/features/repla…
In an article called “When Is It OK to Kill Whites?” Tommy Curry, a black associate professor specializing in critical race theory at Texas A&M University, declared that “in order to be equal, in order to be liberated, some white people might have to die.”
At Yale, an academic named Aruna Khilanani fantasized to students about joyfully shooting white people in the head during a lecture where she also bemoaned the futility of reasoning with whites.
