Swiss Federal President Ignazio Cassis said it is "very likely" that the Federal Council will decide to freeze Russian assets in Switzerland at an extraordinary session on Monday (tomorrow). Image
Sad, crazy and disturbing. Putin lied and set-up his own soldiers. His days are numbered and at this point I don't find it impossible he'll be forcibly removed from office, possibly by the military. Of course what happens after that is a Pandora's Box.

The Swiss Federal Council will hold an extraordinary Session today at 11:30 local (CET) on the topic of Ukraine.

Swiss Federal Council about to hold a media conference concerning Ukraine. To start any moment now.

srf.ch/news/internati…
🇨🇭Federal Council decisions:

-🇨🇭will adopt EU sanctions against🇷🇺

- Assets of listed individuals companies are frozen with immediate effect.

- Financial sanctions against President Putin, Prime Minister Mishustin & Foreign Minister Lavrov also enforced with immediate effect.
- Humanitarian aid to be sent to Poland to support Ukrainian refugees there.

Explanation:

- Countries who respect human rights & international law should be able to depend on Switzerland.

- Argue neutrality is not violated as per Geneva conventions.
- Decision took time to ensure no violation of Neutrality.

- Had previously ensured Switzerland would not be used to circumvent sanctions.

- Switzerland is on the side of Ukraine and her people.

- 25 tons of humanitarian supplies to be delivered to Poland, support ICRC & UN.
- Import/Export/Investment ban to now include parts of Luhansk & Donetsk not in 🇺🇦 hands.

- 🇨🇭 is not 🇷🇺's most important financial partner.

- 🇨🇭 and 🇷🇺 national banks will not maintain any relationship.

- Less than 2% of 🇷🇺's national bank assets are in 🇨🇭.
- Switzerland will support SWIFT ban.

- Entry ban for five oligarchs close to President Putin. Names will not be made public.

- Ukrainians deciding to come to Switzerland can freely move in the Schengen area to here for 90 days, regardless if biometric passport or not, or any.
- Realistic that🇨🇭may be target of a cyber-attack.

- Should it be necessary, Air Force will raise readiness. Airspace will not be permitted to be used for foreign military movement.

- Countries must be able to defend themselves militarily, especially🇨🇭as we aren't in alliance.
- Military pharmacy will support Ukraine with medical supplies, incl. protective equipment, surgery equipment, defibrillators, breathing devices, & burn bandages.

- Airspace is closed to Russian aircraft, includes private jets.

- SWISS airlines has cancelled flights to Russia.
- Diplomatic & humanitarian flights are exempt from airspace closure (for example, if a Russian delegation has to go to Geneva).

- Reiteration: Measures taken today do not violate neutrality as per the interpretation of the Directorate of International Law.
- Offer of Good Offices remains open.

- In contact with Moscow and Washington - desire to keep diplomatic possibilities open.

- Commodity trading not affected by sanctions, as neither the EU nor other states have implemented such sanctions themselves.
- Economic impact towards Switzerland will be determined by developments in Ukraine but a general problem not foreseen. Also, Russia is not a 'primary market'.

- No energy-consequences are foreseen as we have gas reserves.

- Believe the actual use of nuclear weapons unlikely.
Press conference over. Key points:

- Switzerland will adopt all EU sanctions, SWIFT ban.

- Targeted financial sanctions (Putin & co.)

- Air-space closure (sauf diplomatic flights).

- Humanitarian support to Poland, medical to Ukraine.

- Offer for Good Offices remains open.
No clue what they're saying, but doesn't sound like they want to be occupied. Just a guess though, idk.

Maria wants you to watch this video (with English commentary), and then share it as a warning and deterrence to Russians.

Holy hell, Anonymous has threatened the largest cyber attack in the history of the world against 🇷🇺 on March 3 (Thursday). 🇷🇺 citizens have until then to withdraw all funds from their accounts before whatever is left is sent to the 🇺🇦 army.

Is this real?

Today's statement from the 🇨🇭 Federal Council concerning 🇷🇺 sanctions.

🇨🇭s permanent & armed neutrality has not changed! Neutrality does not imply indifference to violations of int'l law.

All measures are within int'l law obligations as a neutral state.

At this point I have no idea if this is all repeated information or if countries are actually continuously providing more and more equipment.

As long as that stuff is sealed it should actually still be good, but still, doesn't help the super poor image Russia has right now.

9gag continues to be a decent source for info I find. Can't speak to the authenticity of this video, but it apparently shows some Russian soldiers deciding to leave the town in Ukraine they were in and go home?
Russia responds in kind to Switzerland banning Russian aircraft from flying in Switzerland by banning Swiss aircraft from operating over Russia - sauf same exceptions.

Anyone have any OSINT or IMINT on Belarus now actively invading Ukraine?

The news is all over the media but I have yet to see any indication other than words.
I mean, given we just saw Belarusian invasion plans...

“The wheat harvest starts in July & this year’s yield is expected to be a healthy one, meaning abundant supply for global markets in normal conditions. But a protracted war in Ukraine can affect the harvest in that country, & therefore global supplies."

🇨🇭sends ~25 tons of relief supplies for winter-proof emergency shelters to 🇵🇱 for Ukrainians (3,4) & from the military pharmacy medical supplies for trauma patients in 🇺🇦 (protective & surgical equipment, defibrillators, breathing devices, & more (1,2). @SwissHumAidUnit @vbs_ddps ImageImageImageImage
Japanese nukes? O.O can't imagine South Korea would not be tempted to develop their own, if surrounded by nuclear Russia, China, North Korea, and Japan.

Noticing more and more videos of people protesting Russian occupation right in front of their faces and setting up road blocks.

It's possible Ukraine launched a Neptune, an anti-ship missile, and hit its target.

Looks like the previously frozen ground people have assessed Putin was waiting for before invading at the end of February is thawing up - causing a muddy landscape and rendering even treaded vehicles immovable.

"Wir haben [z.B]..Berichte über..Entwicklung..der Luftwaffe, den Bodentruppen, der Cyber-Streitkraft.

Die Armee hat sich auch auf..Verteidigungsfall vorbereitet..ist zum Teil belächelt worden. Jetzt sieht man, dass das richtig gewesen & wichtig ist."

srf.ch/news/internati…
It's as if all that gear was sitting there, abandoned, and the people took it upon themselves to burn it all.

A 🇬🇧 conflict-expert proposes an inconvenientional way to end the war - offer Putin & family amnesty & asylum in 🇨🇭 or a Gulf state in exchange for ending the war & stepping down as President.

🇨🇭 has already dismissed this idea as "unimaginable".

Swiss Federal Council press conference live on the topic of Ukraine:

- As of today, all 4 EU-sanction packets have been implemented in their entirety.

- Russia export ban on "dual-use" and military equipment, anything for aerial- and space travel, and for oil refinement.
- Export ban on "dual-use" and military equipment to Ukraine as well (Neutrality requires Switzerland to treat combatants equally).

- Accounts of 223 people (incl. oligarchs) have been frozen.

- Switzerland will also implement EU-SWIFT sanctions.
- War shows how dependent Europe is on Russian gas.

- Switzerland has relied too much on foreign energy in past decades, must move away from fossil energies more quickly.

- Gas is about 15% of energy in Switzerland(?), about half from Russia. Used mainly for heating homes.
- Measures will be implemented to boost rate at which water and wind energy are developed.

- Assess number of refugees leaving Ukraine will drastically rise in coming days.

- Looking to activate "Protection Status S" for Ukrainian refugees staying beyond 90 Schengen days.
- First time Protection Status S is to be implemented.

- Ukrainian refugees will not have to go through usual asylum-procedures.

- Status valid for a year, can be extended - It is a temporary status under the assumption refugees will return home as soon as situation permits.
- Total 677 individuals & 53 companies (Duma, business(wo)men, oligarchs, Putin-entourage) sanctioned so far (placed on the "black list" - incl. accounts frozen.

- PS S not valid for non-Ukrainians fleeing Ukraine.

- As PS S is temporary, no integration measures foreseen.
I don't really know much about Moldova - can anyone explain to me their NATO aspirations (or lack thereof)?

So does this mean that Russia recognizes Taiwan as a country? 🤔

(sarcasm)

Maybe it's time to re-think closing down those perfectly good nuclear power plants and continue producing some of the cleanest energy that exists?

This is just south of Minsk, about 230km from the Ukrainian border.

Apparently a leak by an FSB officer claims that the FSB believes the war against Ukraine has no chance of success. The FSB allegedly also didn't know there would be war and would other have informed the Kremlin their plan was questionable. (Article in DE)

Apparently many people (in🇨🇭& I'm sure elsewhere) are donating unusable goods for Ukraine which have to be destroyed - mainly toys & old clothes.

While well-meant, such donations cause money & time. The supply chain to Ukraine is also clogged. 1/X

Instead, if you wish to support, consider donating to the Ukrainian Army or to humanitarian organizations in Ukraine itself.

Alternative: Organizations helping refugees in neighboring countries. They can use the money to buy supplies on-site. 2/2

Russia's Ambassador to Switzerland, Sergei Garmonin, held an interview with Swiss media, published yesterday. Here's what he said: 1/6

- Repeat of Putin's demands for Ukraine (war over when military objectives reached, de-militarization of Ukraine, etc.)

20min.ch/story/jetzt-re…
- Ukraine not adhering to cease-fires & humanitarian corridors.

- Nationalist militias in blockaded cities do not obey Ukraine's government, blow up buildings with civilians in them.

- Russia considers all sanctions by US, EU & Switzerland as illegitimate (no UN resolution).
- Countermeasures towards these sanctions are being prepared.

- So far, sanctions have had limited impact on daily life in Russia.

- Confiscation of Russia's Central Bank & private firms assets is robbery.

- Russia has many friends and allies, trying to isolate it will fail.
- Calls the war a "special military operation" and not a war.

- Thousands of protestors arrested at illegal demos in Russia - but have right to protest legally.

- Can't accuse Russia of being anti-democratic considering how freedom-convoys in France and Canada were treated.
- When asked about the invasion;

"What invasion are you talking about? It is a special operation for the de-nazification and de-militarization with the aim to protect the civilian population in the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. We will manage this."
- Points out alleged lack of historical knowledge in Europe: In 1999, NATO attacked independent & sovereign Yugoslavia. Passenger-trains, bridges & TV-center targeted - more than 1,700 civilians were killed. Munitions w/ uranium caused numerous cancers & hereditary diseases. 6/6
Japan has really taken a stance in support of Ukraine, tagging along with sanctions on Russia and sending equipment to the Ukrainian military. Note, Japan also recently re-asserted sovereignty over the disputed but Russian-controlled Kuril Islands.

"In other words, a [No-Fly Zone] would require Western pilots to deliberately kill (& risk being killed by) large numbers of 🇷🇺 military personnel, including beyond 🇺🇦’s borders. It would amount to a declaration of war against 🇷🇺 by those Western states."

"Some 45%-54% of the world's semiconductor grade neon, critical for the lasers used to make chips, comes from two Ukrainian companies, Ingas and Cryoin."

Ingas is based in Mariupol and Cryoin in Odesa, and both have halted production.

I'm seeing unconfirmed rumors that:

- Russia has carried out airstrikes in Belarus to prompt them to attack Ukraine.

- Russia is staging a terrorist attack at Chernobyl to blame it on Ukraine.

Again, unconfirmed rumors! Will update when/if I see something solid.
I also doubt any of these mercenaries from the Central African Republic have any idea of what war in -20° temperatures feels like.

Russian television personalities discuss how Russia will do a "radio-electronic strike" to blind NATO, then fly S-400s onto Gotland (while Sweden stays neutral), close the Suwalki Gap, and take Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius (while the 'West' is blind).

Okay.

The until-recently frozen ground of Ukraine is thawing... and Russian tanks are getting stuck in the mud, and being abandonded.

Switzerland has decided to fully implement all EU sanctions against Belarus as well.

Al Jazeera reporting now on the 🇷🇺-🇺🇦 talks taking place in subcommittees.

- Apparently the future size/capabilities of the Ukrainian army is being discussed?

- Zelensky also saying Ukraine may not seek NATO membership?

- And the future status of Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk.
AJ live: Zelensky to US Congress:

- 🇺🇦 defending against 🇷🇺 for 8 years.

- 🇷🇺 has turned the 🇺🇦 sky into a source of death.

- Asking for answer to this terror from the whole world, is No-Fly Zone too much to ask for?

- Alternative, it's known what defense equipment 🇺🇦 needs.
- All US companies must leave Russia.

- All US ports should be closed to Russian goods; peace is more important than income.

- Propose to create U-24, union of countries that have conscience to prevent conflict & keep peace - sanctions, delivery of weapons, whatever is needed.
- Peace doesn't depend only on you & your people, but on those next to you & their readiness to fight for freedom & their right to live. Today the 🇺🇦 people are fighting for the values of Europe & the World.

- Being the leader of the world means being the leader of peace.

/End
Possible false flag ops in Belarus have finally taken place. Or it was something else, too early to tell.

This is the video President Zelensky played for the US Congress earlier today.
Keeping in mind a peacekeeping mission can only occur once a cease-fire has been implemented the and warring parties agree to such a mission.

No clue how true, but the closest to some "plan" I've seen to pull Putin out of power.

Last "plot" I've seen was Shoigu planning an overthrow, but still, I'm sure Putin has a wide support-base and it won't be easy to replace him.

This🇨🇭article reports many foreign volunteers have been leaving 🇺🇦. Links in article. Reasons incl.

- Not prepared for reality of war
- Bad organization
- Lack of weapons & training
- 'Burdensome' contracts
- Recent 🇷🇺 attack on base housing volunteers

And something on Shoigu's disappearance in English.

Press Conference with different departments of the Swiss government right now:

- 5.75 billion Francs in Russian assets have been frozen.

- Government counts with about 50,000 refugees.

- 7,500 places, in addition to the existing 28,000, have been made available to refugees.
- 12,750 refugees have received Protection Status S.

- About 1,000 refugees being processed every day.

- Cantons are recruiting personnel to support authorities.

- Voluntary guest families are being checked first before being considered able to house refugees.
You'd think this is parody but no, it's the actual Russian MFA account.

No clue how true (I guess we will see), but very possible I find.

Something really is up in Nagorno-Karabakh. Seen several tweets about this now.

Those two flags next to each other & the handshake definitely don't present a positive image, but let's see what came out of this meeting.

I doubt many refugees want to head into 🇷🇺, but perhaps something can be organized for PoWs & injured soldiers.

Remember when the Kremlin said they would only use nuclear weapons if their very existence was threatened?

Well... 😬

Fascinating account to follow, basically the war diary of an American volunteer on the ground in Ukraine.

I'd assume he's knowledgeable enough to consider opsec and not post anything that could endanger those on the Ukrainian side, so im sharing this.

I don't know enough about Israeli foreign and security policy, but I wonder if this opens the door for some contribution or intervention of their own.

Second instance I've seen of Ukraine hitting a target in Russia - first was a missile strile on an airfield in Rostov some weeks ago.

Was certain Russia already has nuclear weapons in the Baltics (re: threat of placing them in region if Sweden & Finland joined NATO) in Kaliningrad & found this article from today.

Sweden & Finland are already in range of Russian nukes, nothing new.

The gov. in Transnistria is accusing 🇺🇦 of:

There have been instances during the war in 🇺🇦 when a possible involvement by @NATO through Article 5 has been hypothesized.

More likely is an invocation of lesser-known Article 4. What it is & how it works is the topic of my latest @HS_Centre article.

In November 2021, US & UK Intelligence Agencies began to warn of an impending Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Exactly one year ago, January 21, 2022, seeing indications beyond simple military manoeuvres, I decided to start a thread following this topic,..

..to bridge what I was seeing from analytical & aggregator accounts, to the general Twittersphere.

In doing so, I hope to have helped inform readers of developing events while sharing analyses.

I intend to continue this thread, and hope this terrible war ends as soon as it can.

To help bridge this, I decided to start a chain to share what I find are important developments.
