Released today! The #MohawkRiver Basin Action Agenda. It's an important milestone for the Mohawk, a mighty river in its own right and the largest tributary to the Hudson. TY @NYSDEC@Geo_Garver & others who have worked on this. dec.ny.gov/docs/water_pdf…
Riverkeeper has worked with @SUNYCobleskill & @SUNYPolyInst to monitor water quality since 2015, and is proud to have contributed to this plan.
Critically, this plan identifies the high priority of addressing the spread of invasive species through the #ErieCanal. Riverkeeper wants a solution that blocks the next invasion while allowing boaters to continue to enjoy the canal.
The plan also identifies key actions to restore water quality, including drinking water for nearly 250,000 people who rely directly on the #MohawkRiver or its associated aquifer.
Dig in and learn about this incredible river, its watershed and ecosystem, and what we need to do to promote its health. dec.ny.gov/docs/water_pdf…#MohawkRiver
And let’s make sure the NYS Legislature boosts the Environmental Protection Fund as proposed by @GovKathyHochul and increases funding for the #HudsonRiver Estuary Program, which includes the Mohawk Basin Program. Take action: secure.riverkeeper.org/site/Advocacy?…
