ATTN @MercuryNY and @Omnicom: Your support for Russian oligarchs running @EnPlus_Group has been noted. It’s time to make a choice. Do you stand with democracy?
.@SidleyLaw, it’s time to declare where you stand. Are you with our democratic peers in Ukraine, or the moneyed interests you represent in Russia?
The biggest threat to our democracy isn’t Donald Trump or his the baseless claims of rigged elections; it’s not radical Republicans changing the rules of elections; it’s not even 1/6.
The biggest threat to our democracy and the republic is that too many people are giving up.
Too many are checking out — letting Trump and the Republicans get away with their conspiracy to end democracy.
And that is what they’re hoping for.
We know you’re tired. We know the news is sometimes hard to take.
But there’s only one solution: you.
We can’t save this country by waiting on miracles. Hope is not a strategy.
That’s why we can’t wait for the Washington D.C. committees to act.
They don’t see the danger or know how to fight it.
Americans have to band together and do the work ourselves.
The voting rights bill is about to fail in the Senate.
That’s not being alarmist — it’s stating reality.
For all the lip service the Sinemas and Manchins and Romneys of the world pay to bipartisanship, there is a simpler reality in play right now.

Republicans know that obstruction — obstructing literally everything — is their path to power.
They’re going to do absolutely nothing for as long as they can, to grind things to a halt while their allies at the state and local level continue to stack the deck in their favor.
Their candidates know it.
The directive is coming from on high.
The campaign arms of the GOP are parroting this message like the propaganda flaks they have become.
And it is showing in the quality, or rather lack of quality, of their recruits for the 2022 midterms.
In 2015, Donald Trump attacked Senator John McCain, saying he did not like men who were captured in war.
When he was a candidate and as president, Trump pretended to know more about the pressing issues facing our nation than the leaders of our military services themselves.
In 2018, after the passing of President George H W Bush he displayed enormous disrespect for Bush’s heroic combat service in World War II.
Trump’s pattern of contempt for our military is complemented by his admiration for the kind of foreign authoritarians and strongmen American soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines have so often been called to defeat.
In 2020, he referred to our troops as ‘suckers and losers.’
