There are plenty awful apps available online. They use many ways to hack your twitter account. This is the list of what they do to your account.

1. They Spam Your Followers (DM's) with Spam Messages

They do this without your knowledge and after you sign into the app. The purpose of these spam messages is to persuade your followers to click on a link. The links then take them back to the app via different websites.

Their goal is to convince all of your followers to use the apps so they can infect them as well. In this respect, these apps are like computer viruses. It's unknown whether they perform any other terrible acts at the same time.

If you receive these spam messages, don't be alarmed. It's quite common these days. You're more likely to get them if you follow a lot of people. Just report it as spam.

If you report the message, the sender will be unable to send you any additional messages. It will also assist Twitter in identifying the malicious apps responsible for these messages.

2. They attempt to sign in automatically.
You will be taken to the app's website if you click one of these spam links. After a few moments, the website will redirect you to the Twitter sign-in page. Many users unintentionally click'sign in' without even realizing it.

You'll note that these apps ask for permission to send Direct Messages specifically. They send messages to your followers as soon as you check in and give them this authorization.

3. They automatically follow others.
These apps are also renowned for automatically following people. They'll start following you even if you don't want them to. If you exceed Twitter's thresholds, you may find yourself in hot water.
