How renowned cult leader Alex Hormozi gained 160k followers on Instagram (in just 6 months)

Let me break it down into the keys 🔑 to his success and show you just how HOT 🥵 #Shorts are right now

First, before I get fully into the sauce, what do I mean by Shorts?

Shorts means (very) short-form video content.

Think:
- the namesake YouTube Shorts
- TikTok’s

AND what we’ll be studying today:
- Instagram Reels

We all know social media and many other parts of the modern lifestyle are absolutely frying our dopamine receptors and attention spans.

It can be very hard to bring in a new audience just with long-form content, especially the way social media apps are structured today.

Fortunately, short-form video content allows us to overcome this attention kill-switch by offering a quick, instantly engaging and attention entertaining video to hook our viewers.

Now back to our man Hormozi’s Instagram boom,

🔑 Key #1: Reels, Reels, Reels.

Alex posted his very first Instagram Reel to his page on August 24th of last year.

Since then (202 days ago 🤓🧮), he has posted 156 more Reels, out of 215 total pieces of content.

That’s 72% of all his posts being exclusively Reels.

Not the Instagram you used to know.

BTW, Meta (IG+FB) just released Reels to another 150 countries worldwide 🤔 this is what they are promoting on their apps and it’s what users like.

It’s time to hop on the wave 🌊

🔑 Key #2: Practice.

The other thing you may notice about those stats is how damn much Alex posted; 215 times in 202 days, including twice more (both Reels) just today.

This is something Hormozi preaches A LOT, and I agree with him completely:

mass repetition builds competence

For example, after his first Reel in August of last year, Alex and his team then went on to scale up to 69 posts 😏 in the month of November alone.

His Instagram growth exploded out of here, gaining tens of thousands of followers each month after.

🔑 Key #3: Quality.

Let’s look at Alex’s posts themselves:

He uses a lot of unique Reels - short videos filmed specifically for Shorts, as opposed to the other option of repurposing clips of longer-form content.

But that’s something I’ll dive into on another thread.

Now this makes Hormozi’s Reels the perfect combo of high-quality and engaging content in the shortest possible time frame.

BONUS 🔑 Key #3.1: Captions.

On top of these, Alex’s team adds attention-GRABBING captions to maintain the interest of our sunny-side up 🍳 brains.

This is very important as 30% of users watch IG videos with the sound off AND IG doesn’t automatically have the volume on for them either.

You NEED to be getting people’s attention visually.

Captivating Captions are something I add to all the personal branded Shorts I make.

🔑 Key #4: Show Me The Money

If you’ve ever watched him you know Alex isn’t trying to sell us anything, and all his content is geared around building personal brand equity by providing free value for now..

Admirable.

But let’s see how we could be monetizing this for ourselves:

*Keep in mind I am going to use the literal weakest possible estimates to show how valuable this really is*

With 200k followers, a paid post is gonna be worth at least $2k, though with Alex’s personal brand equity, he could probably charge A LOT more.

But that’s pennies. Let’s sell YOUR offer instead.
