“You have to choose,” Snoke hisses. “A coveted position in your grandfather’s company, or some girl.”
“She’s my wife,” Ben protests weakly.
“Another weakness,” Snoke sneers. “You could have been great. Our youngest partner ever. But instead you got married. Such weakness.
“So now it’s time to make a choice, my boy. All of this,” he waves his hand around the sumptuous office, elegant but sterile and cold. “Or HER”
Ben thinks about Rey, her eyes red from crying, her packed bag at her feet as she’d begged him not to answer Snoke’s summons.
Was this empty office worth more than Rey? More than the acceptance and love he found in her arms?
“Her,” he whispers.
“WHAT” Snoke roars.
“Her,” says Ben, his voice clearer now. “I choose her. You’re right, this can’t go on. My resignation will be on your desk by end of day”
He marches out of the room, leaving Snoke sputtering in his empty office, his empty life. Ben doesn’t look back, doesn’t even stop by his desk for his coat.
He’s got some vows to live up to.
Part 2 of yesterday, for everyone who was sad ☺️
