If you've noticed Twitter often throwing posts from the Kyiv Independent onto your feed, you might be interested to know that outlet is funded by the EU-run European Endowment for Democracy. Silicon Valley runs government censorship by proxy AND government propaganda by proxy.
The EED is a spinoff of the US government-funded National Endowment for Democracy (NED), which as the above article explains was set up to do overtly what the CIA used to do covertly: help topple governments, manufacture consent for imperial agendas, etc.

The narrative control apparatus of the US-centralized empire is one of the most awesome forces on this earth. So subtle and sophisticated that even relatively intelligent and well-informed people fail to see the strings pulling at their mind, but so powerful it shapes the world.
Thank you for the helpful information, John Connor @Slunkuz with one follower established March 2022 who found this thread immediately after it was posted despite not following me or anyone else who follows me.

SO much narrative management.
@Slunkuz The Kyiv "Independent" also receives funding from the Canadian government, h/t @dave_rohl.
@Slunkuz @dave_rohl Yeah it's understandable that you'd assume that, but really it's because our Twitter feeds now have a "War in Ukraine" topic that we're automatically shown despite never following it, which features Kyiv Independent constantly.
@Slunkuz @dave_rohl Kyiv Independent is being so wildly amplified by Twitter and by blue-check narrative managers on this platform that one of its openly neo-Nazi reporters was able to amass nearly a million followers in two weeks.
@Slunkuz @dave_rohl Just ran into it while scrolling again. I never subscribed to this topic, and it wasn't retweeted by anyone I follow. Twitter is just actively putting western government-funded propaganda outlets in front of its users all day.

Just another friendly reminder that the US:
• Had solid intelligence that this war was coming
• Knew they could prevent it by making very reasonable low-cost concessions like promising not to add a nation to NATO that they didn't want in NATO anyway
• Chose not to do that
This was entirely preventable. Many, many high-profile western analysts have been warning the actions of the US and other NATO powers would lead to this. The western empire had many off-ramps, many opportunities to avoid this war which it chose not to use.

Empire loyalists bleat "This had nothing to do with NATO!" Okay. Then explain why so many western analysts across the political spectrum warned NATO's actions would lead to this exact problem. I've yet to encounter a single empire loyalist who can. They just flail around angrily.

International Law Is A Meaningless Concept When It Only Applies To US Enemies

"If the law is not applied consistently, it is not the law. It is simply an excuse we use to target our enemies."

@MurdochCadell International Law Is A Meaningless Concept When It Only Applies To US Enemies (Audio)

"Neither George W Bush nor Tony Blair are in prison cells at The Hague where international law says they ought to be."
soundcloud.com/going_rogue/in…
@MurdochCadell You don't get to make international law meaningless and then claim that an invasion is "illegal". As long as we live in a Wild West environment created by a murderous globe-spanning empire which benefits from it, claims about the legality of foreign invasions are empty noises.

The hawks from the first cold war claimed the collapse of the Soviet Union vindicated their brinkmanship so all those nuclear close calls we had during that period were worth it, but it turns out all that happened was a short break before resuming the insane nuclear brinkmanship.
This completely invalidates the belief that these "great power competition" games of nuclear chicken are sane and worthwhile, because if you keep rolling the dice on nuclear war day after day and year after year, eventually they're going to come up snake eyes. And it's endless.
The only sane choice on the table is to move into a cooperative, friendly relationship with these powers, because facts in evidence show very clearly that trying to dominate and subvert each other will keep going and going until it eventually results in a nuclear conflict.

If everyone understood how much is being risked in these nuclear brinkmanship games, how stupid the reasons for those games are, and how no ordinary people benefit from them in any way, the empire managers responsible for these cold war escalations would be eaten alive.
Which is why tremendous effort goes into keeping people from understanding those things. A responsible news media would be educating the public about things like nuclear winter and Vasili Arkhipov. A propaganda engine does all it can to prevent people from thinking about them.
That's why if you understand nuclear war and what it means it feels so surreal and dissonant looking around at the things people are talking about today and how ungrounded in reality it all is. It's because people are prevented from seeing and understanding this reality.

"And a war fought with existing US and Russian nuclear arsenals is predicted to make agriculture impossible for a decade or longer, dooming most people to die from a nuclear famine."
"I began to wonder why more research wasn’t being done on this topic, especially since the nuclear arsenals had changed significantly... What I learned was that there had been an active attempt to suppress this research and it had been done in a variety of ways."
"After the success of the smear campaign against nuclear winter, most people eventually accepted this narrative and funding for new research dried up. This had a big impact on the public, who got the impression that the nuclear winter theory had been disproven."
