Maritime trade with Russia has more than halved since the invasion of Ukraine began three weeks ago trib.al/rayLM5m
The dramatic fall is three and a half times greater than at the worst point of the coronavirus pandemic for Russia
This could lead to a shortage of goods in Russia's shops, as retailers and manufacturers are due to run out of warehouse stocks in the coming days
Trade experts believe sanctions have made it more difficult to trade with Russia. As a result, ships of all shapes and sizes appear to be avoiding the country
But the impact has been limited by the West's reliance and inability to sanction Russian fossil fuels – which accounts for nearly a third of global pipeline gas

The "Z" symbol was initially spotted on Russian tanks and other military vehicles but it has quickly been embraced by some as a show of support for Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

It shows a number of military vehicles moving at speed through a village to the north east of Kyiv

NATO spy planes are keeping tabs on the Russians.

They are conducting missions to track Russian movement, which might include listening to soldiers’ phone calls, according to one expert.

They also help reveal the position of Russian warships and submarines
