Vasudev Balwant Phadke was an Indian independence activist and a young revolutionary who took arms against the british raj. He was born on 4 november 1845 in shirdon village in Raigadh, Maharashtra.
During his childhood days he was interested in wrestling and other sports, after completing high school education he dropped out the further education. After that he started working as a clerk in military accounts department in pune.
In those days krantiveer Lahuji Vastad Salve, a prominent public figure and expert wrestler became phadke's mentor and he gave a clear picture of atrocities by british raj to India and her people, also he taught him the importance of getting backward castes...
...into the mainstream of freedom movements. During this period he attended the lectures given by Mahadev Govinda Ranade about the economic exploitation of Indian economy by british government and he gained more information about the Economic drain theory by Ranade.
He was deeply hurt by the sad turth and he understood that britishers were the main reason behind the bad conditions of farmers and famines. While working as clerk he was not able to see his dying mother because of delay in sanctioning of his leave application,..
..this incident enraged him to a larger extent & he left his Clerical job.
He then graduated from a british established institution in bombay presidency,on Similar lines he founded an institution “Aikiya vardhini Sabha” to educate Indian youth about British imperialism...

Vasudev Balwant Phadke also performed such raids in pune & Konkan areas.
In one such raid Vasudev Phadke's right hand Daulatarv Naik looted 1.5 lakhs rupees from konkan area. While returning to pune he was attacked shot dead by major daniel. This incident was a great loss for phadke.
Vasudev Phadke began to conduct a nation wide attack aganist british raj but that was merely succeeded. Once his group was directly engaged in an Armed Rebellion with the british army in a village near Pune,after this incident the government...
...offered a heavy bounty of thousands of Rupees on his head, as a replay to that Vasudev phadke offered bounty for governor of bombay and he also announced reward for killing of each english men.
Vasudev phadke, to Strengthen & widen his Campaign escaped to hyderabad state to form a revolutionary group but he was chased by british and hyderabad nizam's police commissioner.
At last his aide in Hyderabad Nizam regime betrayed him,he was captured from a temple after a deadly fight with the force.
Phadke got life sentence & was moved to Aden jail outside India.Though he Sucessfully escaped jail but soon was recaptured & he started a hunger strike.
Vasudev Balwant Phadke made to his heavenly abode on 17 february 1883.
Though Later he was known as the father of Indian Armed Rebellion, as his armed Uprising was one of the most Sucessful against the British post 1857 first war of Indian Independence.
Vasudev Balwant Phadke and his fellow comrades sacrificed their life for Indian Independence. In reality Indian history belongs to them but History Textbooks Don't have a mention of their names.
