"Video Conferencing saved the day when we left the office. We weren't ready for it, but video saved the day....
Question for the day: Is what we have for the video conferencing experience meeting expectation and demands?
@iweinstein Scott Wharton, Logi: People working at home are not having an equal experience. We need to figure out how to make the experience better. More work needs to be done as an industry to upgrade the home experience
Chris Rowen, Webex: We need to make videoconferening transparent so you dont know its there. Current experience is a barrier to true comprehension. Privacy and Security are essential now that we are opening the pipelines for collaboration
@ilyabu#MicrosoftTeams: Over the last two years, we've seen a massive increase in technology under unprecedented conditions. We need to be an enabler for collaboration with solutions that feels natural. We have a long way to go
@ShawnRolin Zoom: In the coming years we are going to see an equitable expansion of video, especially in key verticals like healthcare.
@WilderBeau Poly: When it comes to return to office, we need to make the in-office experience as good or better than the experience they are having working from home
@ilyabu: Personalization means different things in different spaces. In the home office, we have pics of our families, etc. It's different when we get to shared spaces...we need intelligent rooom systems to recognize us as individuals and add value for us based on needs
@WilderBeau: In terms of personalization, there is a big opportunity to be a broker between the many cloud platforms to make spaces intuitive to workers as individuals
Chris Rowen: Hotdesking - Companies need to find ways to deliver a "cone of silence" experience that isolates in open spaces, as people have grown used to having their own space
@ilyabu Hotdesking is a complex issue....space management is critical and scheduling has to be easy. AI/Software is how we improve this experience. Exciting future ahead in this space
@ShawnRolin: Devices need to be upgradeable. Vendors in videoconferencing industry are like Tesla in the sense that there are constant software upgrades being pushed to improve the experience
@ilyabu Using AI we are able to detect when camera, microphones or drivers are causing issues. We need to be able to let people know when they are the reason that a meeting doesn't sound great
@ShawnRolin: It took a generation for people to adopt SMS, but using video was adopted immediately due to the pandemic.
@WilderBeau: The use of video in the contact center is going to be a real differentiator for companies that are first to roll it out. The technology is there and customer expectations are rising quickly
@ilyabu AR/VR will be integrated into the collaboration experience, but needs to add value...will not be the science fiction reality some imagine
Scott Wharton: most of the AR/VR experiences he's tried have been lacking and add little value. VR makes sense in the gaming/entertainment world, but expects that AR will be big value add in enterprise collab
@WilderBeau: Intelligence at the edge is critical so that devices can be used more efficiently. Video is the killer app and @PolyCompany is making huge investments to develop the most intelligent solutions
Scott Wharton: Video used to be a rare board room thing. We need to democratize, making it cheaper and easy to use, upgrade the experience for those working from home

Video Conferencing Room Interoperability: What are the Paths Forward?
Moderator @JimBurton asks the audience how many people in the room wish their companies could figure this out.
A massive show of hands šš½
@JimBurton Jim described a company he spoke with recently who had different floors of their buildings set up for Zoom, Teams, etc. There has to be a better way
Jim Kelly - @GeekInAwe outlined different methodoligies for interop.
1) The dreaded corporate mandate (just pick one platform!)
2) BYOD - bring your own device. let people bring their laptops to the room and use whatever platform they need. Lots of challenges here
