My dad and I had been to Sketchers to buy shoes. There we meet a young man, who came to us and said, "Mala olakhla ka?"
(Did you recognize me)
My dad could not recognise him.
What he said next
was shocking!
He said, "20 years ago, I was a paperboy in the area where you lived. Your wife offered me shirkurma, every Eid.
One time you said something which changed my life."
That life changing line was...
"You will be the next Vajapayee, one day!"
The young man said, "Sir that line has been my inspiration throughout these years."
He then asked, "Do you know how much I scored in 10th?"
He scored only 46 percent.
But he went from being a Paperboy to working in housekeeping to becoming a salesman and then a Sales Manager to being the Area Manager of Sketchers.
He said, "I still have that line framed on my wall. As I open the door of my home, I see that daily.
"Since 20 years I have always wanted to meet you again, sir. But I could not.
And today as soon as I heard your voice, I knew it was Sattar Saheb."
Do watch the video till end
Hats of to his spirit and attitude.
Someone on the streets of Pune recognizes you after 20 years just by hearing your voice
It is not possible to capture this emotion in words/picture or videos.
As a proud daughter of my dad I learnt - what you leave behind is legacy and what you earn is this priceless recognition.
