So every month, Katsuki and Eijirou have a salon day.

So every month, Katsuki and Eijirou have a salon day.
They have a ritual that is down to a science. Eijirou will carefully away peal away layer and layer of hair, putting bleach in the areas where Katsuki’s genes resemble his dad’s more.

as he paints his boyfriends hair, carefully pinpointing the bleach so all the areas lighten up at the same time.
With Katsuki’s short hair, it doesn’t take long to develop, so they always try to get through Eijirou’s roots with his own hair dye.

They’ll switch spots, Katsuki, shirtless with folded foils all around his head, sticking his tongue out in concentration as he coats Eijirou’s hair in bright red dye.

Katsuki cards his fingers through his hair, tapping a foot to the beat of an imaginary song.
The timer will go off, and Eijirou will get up, shower cap placed loosely on his head as he pulls off the foils, checking to make sure everything is perfectly aligned with

Katsuki’s mom’s hair color.
Occasionally, he’ll leave the bleach in too long and Katsuki will walk out of the bathroom with highlights, light baby hairs framing his face.
Eijirou always squishes his face and says he looks extra handsome, to compensate for the extra bleach.

But other times Eijirou will get it just right, and when they both shower, rinsing out their respective hair products, he’ll admire the great job he did.
He’ll pass Katsuki the purple shampoo behind him, while Katsuki will pass him the color-protecting shampoo.

They help wash each other’s hair, making sure there are no missing spots.
The drain is always a mess, purple and red bleeding together, but they never seem to mind, happily enjoying each other’s presence.

Eijirou will give Katsuki a toothy smile and reach to admire one of the newly-done hair strands. Katsuki will blush, but lean into the touch anyways, much like he does when he leans his head back onto Eijirou’s torso when his hair is being done.
And eventually Katsuki will kiss Eijirou’s temple, right by the splotch of red dye that stains his forehead, coming eye to eye with the black to red fade.
They both try their best, and sometimes they miss a spot or two.
That’s okay, there’s always next month.
