(2/6) The problem?
Slow dial-up speeds, incompatible computer systems and images too large to send efficiently.
(3/6) The solution?
Compressing images so they wouldn't lose their sharpness, would load quickly and could appear on any computer …GIFs.
(4/6) The first ever GIF uploaded by the creator Stephen Wilhite (1987) was of a clip art airplane soaring through a pixelated sky, have you seen this?
(5/6) Animated GIFs became popular beginning in 1995 and they weren’t as refined in a sense as they are now so back in the day websites would use flashing "under construction" signs to show it was a WIP.
(6/6) I think it was around the 2000s that its popularity skyrocketed. In fact, I was actually considering putting out this tweet thread only through GIFs. And it's crazy that it's possible!
Thank you and rest easy Mr. Stephen Wilhite.

Behind every successful company, is a genius storyteller who is consciously (or sub-consciously) building the perfect story. 🧵
What makes storytelling work?
It's the ability to connect with people on a deeper level.
People remember stories, not facts and figures. Stories create an emotional bond that can inspire and motivate people to take action.
How do you go about it?
To create a compelling story, there are 4 key tenets every storyteller (salesman/marketer) must follow:
a protagonist,
a goal,
an obstacle, and
a journey
The unspoken secret of a successful recruitment strategy: building a pipeline of passive talent 🧵
Passive talent = professionals NOT actively looking for a change in jobs.
These are folks who are easy to find, harder to hire. Expect long hiring cycles.
Understandable that only a few companies will then tread this path. This is where you can win.
Why passive candidates?
Often recruiters and hiring managers choose the "best of what's available", rather than choosing the best-fit from the larger talent market. This is where building a passive pipeline can yield good results because it broadens your pool of potential hires.
