If only you knew how often some Old Stock has to fight to get a basic procedure approved by insurance, then have the next patient get wheeled in by a care taker and have limitless health care dollars b/c…racism?
“To modern or ‘moral’ orientation, to the feminine, docile, oriental, self-effacing culture such as ours it is shocking. These shocking and refreshing statements in the Iliad regarding the hero’s unashamed, frank desire not only for plunder and adventure,
but for immortal fame, undying fame. When I've mentioned it on Twitter and such, I was given stern lectures and finger wagging by serious traditional men: ‘A serious man does not pursue fame. No, no, no, you are good, you are above that.’
But tell me what this attitude has added to mankind? Because this moralism hasn't made man better. Man will continue to desire these kinds of things Homer and other writers talk about. But then they just lie to themselves, and they lie to others about it.
The Path of Vitality and Action
(you must understand)
“I’m trying to explain why in my book and elsewhere I don’t promote the ‘contemplative man’ but instead the path of vitality and action.
I’ll give you one example to explain this…
The famous sculptor, Benvenuto Cellini, is one of my heroes. I use his Perseus statue as my banner photo b/c it represents everything I aspire to.
This was an artist, a sculptor; a hybrid between a purely contemplative man and a man of action. He has a book called ‘My Life’.
You have to look at how he made this amazing bronze statue of Perseus. When he was melting things to pour into the cast, he was running out of materials.
In an absolute FRENZY of power, he gathered whatever objects he could & brought them running to melt and fill the cast.
“Buddhism is a powerful ally. Buddhism is NOT passivism. If you believe Buddhism is peace, you misunderstand the teaching of Buddha.
The early Buddhists were basically genocidal skinheads who wanted to wipe out most of the population of India.
They wanted to annihilate everything that exists. It’s a philosophy of nihilistic purgation, of great cleansing.
Historically, the Tibetans had no hesitation. They created a medieval empire stretching into Siberia. They burned down the Chinese capital that went by the name
‘Perpetual Peace’ [Chang’an/Xian]. Their scriptures still have stories of a great Buddhist army that will descend from the mountains & wipe out much of the world, much of Islam in particular.
This strain is hidden from you today. In many ways, it is hidden from themselves too.
“Remember how they understand Trump. He was elected by a population that finally wanted to bring some accountability and some security to a ruling class that had failed so badly in EVERYTHING it’s trying to do.
Remember, the economic gurus thought
burning excess housing was one of the possible cures to the financial crisis in 2007/8. Gurus like Paul Krugman promoted the idea, in all seriousness, that you need a huge war or an alien attaq to jumpstart the economy.
What I’ve just told you (that digging a hole and filling
it back up is the purpose of economic life), they mean that unironically. This is the kind of person who populates the ruling class.
They don’t react well to being questioned with simple questions, “What have you achieved?” or “Why should you continue in your position?”
