1. Been reading a lot about batteries over the last week. While I am glad that consumers are starting to ask the right questions, a lot of disinformation is also being spread around the topic.
Wanted to take this time to explain some of these aspects and why they matter in EVs:
2. Battery health and battery safety are two very different topics...
The former relates to cell degradation and the capacity retention ability, while the latter is about ensuring that the pack functions optimally and safely under all circumstances.
3. Both of them require very different engineering approaches to achieve. The key difference — where many companies falter — is in what they prioritize. At @SimpleEnergyEV, battery safety is paramount. Since we deal in high-performance EVs, even small risks could be catastrophic.
4. However, some OEMs seem to prioritize battery health, keeping safety optional. I don’t need to explain why this is bad, but it deserves strong scrutiny — what sort of testing and innovation was done before bringing a vehicle to the consumer? Is there enough validation data?
5. Battery health isn’t rocket science. The world has been using lithium-ion batteries for decades. It really just comes down to the quality of cells, charge cycles, rate of charging and external physical factors. Any competent EV should be capable of managing this inherently.
6. Battery safety is where things get interesting. It’s a balancing act — performance (torque, speed) and fast charging on one side, temperature and size constraints on the other. And it’s really difficult to find the sweet spot, as it takes a lot of tuning and testing efforts.
7. In fact, there’s not much correlation between Battery health and Battery safety. It’s relatively easy to make a battery that lasts for 10,000 km… but one that does so safely? Not so much.
Accidents can happen at any time, regardless of how degraded the cells are🤷‍♂️
8. Designing a safe battery system is a very complex process, involving cooling systems, mechanical engineering, thermal management and software. Going from 80% to 90% safety can take months!
This is where a lot of OEMs cut corners, because of how resource-intensive it can get.
9. Battery safety is non-negotiable, especially for premium EVs. It has to be a part of the initial design, with R&D focussing on it from day 1. There should be solid solutions for:
-Ensuring no fires
-Failsafe mechanism
-Cooling system
-Thermal runaways
-Software-level safety
10. Keeping all of this in mind, our philosophy was simple: keep working towards higher safety standards till we can confidently claim complete safety in even the most extreme conditions — even if it comes at the expense of longer development times and higher costs.
#SafetyFirst
11. When we learnt that most currently available components didn’t satisfy our needs, we took matters into our own hands and started designing our own systems to achieve perfect safety.
You’ll soon understand what we mean when we say #SimpleONE is the safest EV out there
12. Our BMS is not only smart enough to ensure that operating temperature thresholds are never crossed but also safe enough to take care of any fires by isolating them at the cell level.

All of this in an electric two-wheeler that also has the highest range and performance!
13. In simpler words, you’ll be able to:
-Continue riding at peak performance for way longer, without having to worry about overheating.
-Enjoy fast charging without worrying about battery degradation.
-Have enough range to not worry about charging stations.

=All EV woes fixed!
14. It’s been my personal mission from the get to create vehicles that are truly uncompromised — giving people no excuse to not shift away from ICE vehicles.
Simple ONE is just the first step to showing that it is actually possible… There’s more where that came from!
15. I hope you enjoyed this episode of #SuhasSimplifies!
We don’t believe in plain old marketing. Rather, we’d like to equip consumers with the right knowledge and help them make better decisions on their own.

What other topics would you like me to demystify and explain?
