A thread - Things to consider before having a baby other than the OBVIOUS considerations;
1. Are you fit enough? You're going to be carrying this child around ALOT, whether in your arms, a car seat or a carrier, your back is gonna be blown out & not in a good way 😭.
2. Do you like sleeping in? Do you like sleep overall? Well, screw that when you have a baby. Even after the "sleepless nights" newborn phase, as they get older, they just DECIDE to wake up at 6am for no good reason and create chaos.
3. Have you been getting by on coffee, one meal a day & headache vibes? Well, whether breastfeeding, formula-fed or solids, you're gonna either have to eat more to sustain yourself or prepare food every minute to sustain your baby.
4. Do you like your alone time? Love being a loner surrounded by silence? Grew up as an only child? Hate hugs & most forms of affection? I think y'all know the answer to this one 🥲.
5. Hate cartoons or children shows? OK. Moving on.
6. Hate washing dishes or doing laundry? Need I explain further?
7. Are you spontaneous? Love getting up at the last minute before going somewhere? Well, enjoy it while you still can because between getting yourself, the baby ready & the diaper bag packed, you'll be lucky if you still make it out the door.
8. Is the bathroom your safe space? Do you love taking long, luxurious baths/hot showers or some extra minutes on the toilet to scroll Twitter/IG? You can forget about those after child because they're either gonna holler after you or beat down the door like SWAT.
9. Been living carefree in your studio/1-bedroom apartment with fancy furniture? I swear, after #BabyGirl was born, our space just looked SO MUCH SMALLER. Plus, you'll need extra space to put all the baby things you're gonna buy.
10. Do you love and strive to maintain a tidy, clean, uncluttered space and will go crazy at the sight of things being out of place? Talk to your doctor/therapist because a baby may not be right for you. 🥲
Ok, so these are just 10 things I thought of. As I've always said, motherhood/parenting is a huge adjustment and despite the big, obvious things you SHOULD consider before having a baby, these are some other things that people might not realize will be a HUGE adjustment as well.
Oh yeah, I should have also added that if you're someone that lives and THRIVES on having a set daily routine/set times for tasks... just... nuh badda yah man 😭.
