AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla: We are significantly improving our domestic flights and in May we will be reopening three countries for international flights. I hope this will be consistent until the peak of third quarter this year.
Isla: Our Boracay-Manila, there is already a total roundtrip of 6-7 per day compared to January which was only about 3.
Isla says they are seeing continuous improvement especially by Q3. He notes they domestic flights are expected to reach 90% of pre-pandemic levels.
Isla: The first to recover are tourism flights so expect tourism to pick up as soon as possible for the domestic travel.
Isla on rising oil prices, weaker peso: Starting mid-March, we have increased already. This is what we call the fuel surcharge price increase.
Isla says this was the only time they adjusted their air fares since 2018 due to the impact of increasing oil prices.
Isla: We always keep a good balance of our promotions and at the same time follow these kinds of fuel surcharge.
Isla says travelers may also avail of their new campaign 'Fly Home to vote'
Isla: When there’s going to be that new president, the most important thing is supporting the transport industry. Hopefully we will continue to get concessions that we think we’ll be able to help our operations moving forward.
P&G president and GM Raffy Fajardo: There’s a positive trend because people go out, consumption is increasing. We are seeing a bounce back in consumption.
Fajardo says despite the lockdowns, they were able to continue operation and providing service to consumers.
Fajardo: We are happy things are opening up but even before that we are fortunate we were able to operate unhampered.
Fajardo says some of the lessons they learned while operating amid the pandemic are ensuring employee productivity and safety, improving supplying chain, partnering with government for nation building.
Fajardo on importance of gender equality in the workplace: We believe that you can progress based on your skills.
Fajardo notes that 50% of their workforce are women, wand even higher at the top management level.
