Lots of doom, gloom and negativity about County Cricket around at the mo. I’m not having it! If we want the 18 to survive and flourish, we need to celebrate them and sing their praises from the rooftops. Their future is in our hands and we need to FIGHT for them!
County Cricket is BLOODY MARVELLOUS! It’s the bedrock and lifeblood of English Cricket - of the English Summer. It’s a breeding ground for future talent, a community and a family. Watching it can be tremendously exciting or wonderfully relaxing. Each club has a rich history and
deep roots. Each ground and pitch has its own nuances, beauty and challenges. The ECBastards have neglected and underestimated the Counties for years and are taking them for granted. But without the Counties THERE WOULD BE NO ECB! So join your county and make your voice heard. If
we don’t fight for the 18 now, we won’t have the right to complain if they aren’t there for us to enjoy in the years to come. With the right promotion, focus, management and investment, the Championship could be so much more and could break through into the public consciousness.
It doesn’t need changing. It just needs to be promoted and scheduled properly. So, PLEASE, support your County, post photos of yourself enjoying County Cricket and tag the ECBastards to let them know how much you love it. Be creative in getting the message out. Take your friends
and family and let’s fill those grounds like never before. I genuinely believe we have the power to achieve the positive change we all crave. We just need to come together to make it happen #SeeingRed#CountyCricketMatters

As I mentioned last week, today is my first day working for the ECB as a special advisor on franchising red ball cricket. Bit uneasy about taking the job so I’ll be posting regular updates to this thread during the course of the day to let you know how it goes. Wish me luck! 😬
Although I was somewhat taken aback to be offered the role in the first place, especially given my passionate campaign to support the eighteen first class counties,
I think the job is an opportunity to work the system from the inside and hopefully temper the ECBastard’s worst instincts. Probably shouldn’t call them that now I’m working with them 😬
