This be the thing #edchatie imho 1. The Senior Cycle Review Advisory Report is *mostly* really very good. It's clear the @NCCAie learningS include the realisation that developing an entire curriculum in secret (and giggling about it) is NOT a good thing #JCReform
2. The Report is NOT the curriculum but a foundation for what will become *in the future* the Senior Cycle Framework.
The Report very firmly acknowledges the need to include all stakeholders in the decision-making process *before* making decisions.
3. True consultation (versus the lip-service kind) involves listening to the informed and valid opinions of stakeholders and factoring those informed and valid opinions into the decision making.
4. True consultation would not preempt the process by making decisions before the all stakeholders had come to an agreement, and preferably, a concensus.
Consequently, some of the details I the @Education_Ire press release delivered by the Minister beggar belief.
5. This includes
*A 60/40 split
*Two lots of high stakes exams (versus 1 at present)
*Easter oral exams
*one 'subject' that is driven by keep-my-job external programme provider lo by groups who can't teach geography
6. *one subject that thinks film, drama and theatre are roughly the same thing.
More to follow...
7. But the biggest issue is blindsiding the professional that you want to implement your 'vision'.
Teachers are not dogsbodies. If @Education_Ire continues to treat like that, don't be surprised if that's what you end up with.
