As a method of terror Russian forces continue to kidnap Ukrainian local politicians, journalists and civic activists in all towns and cities since the beginning of Russia’s .Victims are feared tortured and possibly murdered. khpg.org/en/1608810316
The recently discovered Russian atrocities in Bucha, Ukraine spotlight Putin's inhumanity.
But the ongoing Russian brutal kidnapping and disappearance of around 30 Ukrainian local politicians, journalists and civic activists in all towns and cities since the beginning of Russia’s invasion has received virtually no attention in the Western media.
The list of kidnapped and disappeared continues to grow.
Many of them have medical conditions that make their imprisonment, let alone the likely torture they are facing potentially life-threatening.
The Zmina Human Rights Centre has prepared a video with details of those abducted up till the end of 28 March. They ask for help in circulating information about these abducted civilians, using the hashtag #TheTaken.
The importance of publicity cannot be overstated. Russia brought enforced disappearances as a method of terror to occupied Crimea and Donbas, and a number of activists and others have never been found.
It is vital that Russia fails to repeat this in other parts of Ukraine. Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group reports.

As I said at the Lincoln Memorial: “Putin needs a trophy to halt his current war in Ukraine. He needs to show Russians on May 9 Victory Day, a holiday marking the end of the Great Patriotic War-WWII - that he is a Victor and controls Donbas, the easternmost region of Ukraine.”
This is unacceptable. It will give Putin a foothold in Ukraine for further aggression and war as his recent 8 year hybrid war in Donbas has shown the world.
We should never forget Putin is profoundly cynical and does not believe in the power of the human spirit to unite people to do good. He believes everyone can be bought. There are only 2 principles that guide him:
Will we let Ukraine Fatigue to set in? The Crucial question for the US & NATO in this war, despite all the good done arming Ukraine to date and the very serious economic sanctions imposed is: Do we really have a military strategy to help Ukraine win this war?
Or are we just reacting to Putin's intimidation and tactical maneuvering? Put simply: "Are we just kicking the can down the road?" And hoping that Putin will quit his current course of steady escalation and have his forces fall back to just the easternmost part of Ukraine?
With the current steady bombing of key Ukrainian cities and destruction of essential infrastructure, time is not on Ukraine's side. This is an urgent question for the Pentagon.
Russian troops shot at a group of women and children evacuees leaving a village near Kyiv, killing seven, one of them a child, Ukraine's military intelligence service said on Saturday.
"During an attempt to evacuate from the village of Peremoga... along an agreed 'green' corridor, the occupiers opened fire on a column of civilians, consisting exclusively of women and children.
Boris Nemtsov was Russia’s much loved Putin political critic & anti-corruption crusader. Gunned down in Feb 2015 in the shadow of the Kremlin on the eve of addressing a massive peaceful Moscow protest against Putin & just before releasing a major report on Putin’s war in Ukraine.
Boris warned us but we didn’t listen & we didn’t act in time. He said that Putin is “war & crisis.” Let me repeat that: Putin is "war & crisis". He brought war and devastation to Chechnya, Georgia, Ukraine in 2014, Syria and Ukraine in 2022 again.
Putin does not promise Russians a radiant future. He offers only slogans, “make Russia great again,” and enemy images of the West & his internal critics to prop up his sagging kleptocratic regime. Thievery is his only ideology.
Wake up America! You are playing into Putin's hands and enabling him to carry out genocide in Ukraine. You continue to telegraph your punches in Ukraine telling him the many ways you will not defend Ukraine. No NATO troops on the ground. No fighter jets for Ukraine.
Each time giving Putin a green light, green light, green light to advance further and further. You are also blocking NATO countries, like Poland, from acting independently to give Ukraine life-saving military equipment.
Putin is not a grand strategist as some Western scholars have asserted in recent years. He is a poker player who consistently raises the stakes and doubles down.
Thread: Words matter. "A lie repeated 100 times becomes a truth," as the saying goes. Putin demands that his destruction in Ukraine be called a noble "Special Operation" and has made it a punishable crime for Russians to call it a "war" or an "invasion".
To counter this lie Ukrainian authorities and social media update the war daily using the words "aggressor" and "occupier" to capture the essence of Putin and his Russian forces. This is accurate and very appropriate. However, more forceful language and imagery is warranted.
Putin in preparation for this war has repeatedly hammered that he doesn't recognize Ukraine's existence as an independent sovereign state.
