Enjoyed my convo w/ @BenjaminABoyce today. A lot has changed in the last 7 years—for better & for worse. Hope there are useful nuggets for the gender-geek veterans as well as the newbies. We even got a few laughs in while tackling a very serious subject.
I do want to clarify something I said: Parents absolutely DO have standing & power to fight for their kids against this onslaught of “affirm only” treatment—legally if necessary. But when those kids become legal adults, that power is much diminished. This is where…
Detrans/desisted adults have the power & standing (legal & otherwise) to push back, as many now are. I mentioned @genspect in the interview; that’s where parents and detrans people (along with other supportive adults) are uniting to make change together. Much respect to them all.
For those interested, here is the 2017 talk by (now) Asst Secretary of HHS Rachel Levine that I mentioned in the interview last night. Accelerated cross-sex hormones for homeless teenagers.
And here, as I talked about last night, is Dr. Jo Olson-Kennedy in 2015, discussing the same practice at her LA clinic. The most radical “affirming” clinicians seem to believe hormones are the solution for almost any troubled minor who requests them.
The infamous “pop tarts” incident I discussed toward the end of the interview, wherein Olson-Kennedy suggests to an 8-yr-old girl she’s really a boy in a girl package, is here. Be sure to listen to JOK herself in the linked audio clips.

.@BenjaminABoyce & I discussed the “suicide or transition” narrative pushed by unethical clinicians & media, a key reason many parents approve medical transition. Exhibit A: Joel Baum, senior director of Gender Spectrum, shows us how it works in this vid.
Developmental psychologist/gender clinician Diane Ehrensaft told Louis Theroux the same thing in 2018. Is it any wonder so many parents don’t question the “affirmative” crowd?
And “bringing the receipts” on the subject of pediatric packers, see this thread, which is chockfull of references to companies that sell tot-sized silicone phalluses for the kindergarten set. SOMEBODY is purchasing those things…
For boys, a quick google will provide you with businesses selling cute “tucking underwear” for concealing male genitalia. LA Children’s Hospital has tips on their website. No duct tape!
A thriving Etsy shop. Sizes down to XS (US size 2, a small child). Recent (Feb 2022) rave reviews from moms with happily tucking “daughters.”

How many moms are making these purchases? Who knows, but there are hundreds upon hundreds of posts in parent Facebook groups discussing the intricacies of pediatric tucking.
The most important takeaway from my convo with @BenjaminABoyce is the institutional capture at the highest levels of the US federal government by child/adolescent transition ideologues.
And that institutional capture extends across many agencies of the executive branch—Depts of Education and Justice, Health & Human Services, Centers for Disease Control, and?

It’s up to the other two branches to put some brakes on.

But will they?
Why are Dems committing likely electoral harakiri over trans issues, w/the growing pushback across the political spectrum? @BenjaminABoyce & I spent much time on this mystery in our chat. This commenter has a theory: Addiction to moral righteousness.

Planned Parenthood is sharing "facts" for parents on Facebook and other social media--including this one: Gender identity is formed "for everyone" in their toddler years.

They encourage parents to ASK their preschooler "are you a boy or a girl" to "create a safer space." Image

It's hard to believe Turban isn't being deliberately misleading. He KNOWS nearly all puberty-blocked kids go on to cross hormones, and that protocol does result in infertility. And immature gametes can't be frozen for later use; natural puberty is required for that. Image

Turban knows. He just won't say it, because blocked kids almost never stop blockers and go through their "birth assigned puberty." So yes--they are sterilized! @JeremyShawMD Image
Right here, Diane Ehrensaft says it--at the very beginning of this clip. The standard affirmative protocol (which Jack Turban constantly promotes) sterilizes children--and Turban knows it.

Three years ago...

There is no walking this back. No justification.

Turning a child into a mascot and a public spectacle is a bad idea under any circumstances. Yet in 2023, it has been normalized for "trans kids."
Even people who support pediatric medical transition should question the trans-kid celebrity trend. "Hey I blocked my kid's puberty at 11, then put them on cross hormones at 12. This sterilized them & may have wrecked their future sexual function before they had any concept of what they were sacrificing... but look at me! Look at what a virtuous parent I am!" Oh, what if they regret all that publicity later on ... or even regret their transition? Maybe keeping private medical decisions about a minor...you know, private, might have been a better idea? "No worries, I'm on the right side of history. I'm not like those bigots! After all, my kid might be the next Jazz Jennings, getting SRS on national TV at 17!"
Imagine one of these children wanting to detransition, now or in the future. That's hard enough (ask any detransitioner) when you're not a public spectacle being unkindly gawked at by some, and depended upon by others (like the @ACLU , @HRC ) to promote a narrative. You are virtually guaranteeing these kids will maintain their "identity" because of all the public fallout they'd endure if they ever change their minds.

Scientific American @sciam a once-respected publication, didn't bother to ask why this 70+-yr-old **developmental psychologist** thinks a kid is equipped to sterilize themselves & knows more than she does. But then, neither did @wapo in 2018.

How does Ehrensaft keep getting away with this quasi-religious reverence for the wisdom and judgment of pre-pubescent kids? It would be one thing if the stakes weren't so high--as in, permanent sterilization and irreversible bodily changes. As a developmental psych, she KNOWS executive function is not fully in place until the mid-20s. Yet she keeps pushing her kids-know-best catechism and no reporter pushes back.
