1/ Did you know that all-dimensional sharding is one of #MultiVAC’s major innovations that will make it the public - largely scalable - blockchain of the future? 💎🔥
But what is all-dimensional sharding, in simple words? 🤔
2/ Let’s start with sharding itself… what is it?
Sharding is the division of a blockchain into smaller fragments. Running transactions from those fragments in parallel increases the system’s overall throughput
3/ Basically, it’s a way for a blockchain to become scalable.
However, sharding comes with a few inherent issues that $MTV addresses in unique and unrivalled ways 💎
4/ Today, we will explore the ACCOUNT SHARDING dimension.
Normal sharding requires a huge number of cross-shard transmissions to ensure that all shards are constantly synchronised
5/ This is to avoid, for instance, that one shard processes an unfunded payment, not knowing that another shard is already processing a transaction with the same coins.
The cross-shard transmissions increase proportionally with TPS and limit the scalability of a blockchain
6/ To tackle the issue, #MultiVAC has pioneered and adopted the world’s first asynchronous transmission model - where shards aren’t constantly synchronised - removing the need for huge cross-shard transmissions
7/ By creating “transaction shards” that are based on payment addresses, #MultiVAC made it possible for all transactions to be confirmed “by account” (last digits of the sender’s address) in a single location/shard, preventing double spending and the need for synchronisation 🔥

Today, we’ll explore the STORAGE dimension ✨
10/ Besides the shard computation distribution we looked at yesterday, trustable and effective storage of data is also crucial to a robust L1 blockchain.
On this topic, #MultiVAC has innovated again - by introducing a split of labour between miner nodes and storage nodes 💎🔥
11/ By having most of the data stored in storage nodes and leaving only verification data stored in miner nodes, #MultiVAC has drastically lowered the hardware requirements for miners, allowing a large number of ordinary consumer hardware to participate in the mining process 💪🏻
12/ With so many miners’ devices - laptops, smartphones etc - taking part in the consensus and validation process, the #MultiVAC ecosystem will be made even safer and more decentralised.

13/ In other words, anyone of us will be able to participate to the mining and securing process of the giant public blockchain that #MultiVAC will one day become 🚀
14/ This quest for social equality triggered the recent decision of @shawnyingtju to lower the minimum $MTV threshold to be able to run a miner node (previously set at 1M)

#MultiVAC storage node tech (Merkle Root-based) supports indexing, segmenting, comprehensive verification of stored data, and also allows for flexible and efficient updating of the data
16/ For instance, let’s say you want to add your favorite movie to a #MultiVAC-based DApp. A normal hash-based storage system would only allow you to search and index the whole movie, whereas #MultiVAC tech also enables you saving, extracting and updating any part of the movie
17/ It is worth noting that storage within the #MultiVAC system is only provided as a L1 service, similar to the internet infrastructure that all networks run on. Storage nodes don’t have any ability to amend or generate data and can only store data used by higher levels (L2 etc)
18/ All data modification in a storage node must result from consensus; cryptographic proofs are first checked when stored data is used. Moreover, all data is largely duplicated and contains signatures of users’ private keys, making the data impossible to falsify or corrupt 💪🏻

20/ Here is the last part of our journey exploring the #MultiVAC all-dimensional technology.
Today, we’ll have a look at the TRANSMISSION SHARDING dimension 🤩
21/ When blockchain technology will eventually become a key part of our daily lives - and that’s not so far away! - the volume of data that blockchains will be processing every day will be absolutely massive 🌍
22/ According to academic estimates, public blockchains will be required to support millions of transactions per second (TPS). To broadcast block information to their entire network, normal L1 blockchains will require more than 8Gbps of communication bandwidth 😱
23/ Such a large network bandwidth won’t be supported by ordinary consumer hardware. This, in turn, will create a barrier to running nodes, which will increase the risk of monopoly and node centralisation - and will also affect efficiency and scalability of L1 blockchains
24/ To address this issue, #MultiVAC has innovated once more, by adopting a new in-shard broadcasting mechanism that confines data transmission within shards. This solution lowers the transmission pressure within the network and speeds up transactions 🔥

25/🔥 The way it works is quite clever. Once a miner completes block confirmation, information about the new block is broadcasted within the shard and only block headers are broadcasted to the entire #MultiVAC sharding system
26/ As each header only takes up 400 bytes of space, even when #MultiVAC will reach 1 million TPS, the blockchain will only require 5 to 20Mbps of network bandwidth 💪🏻
27/ #MultiVAC tech innovation greatly reduces the hardware requirements to run nodes, conserves transmission resources, and prevents the occurrence of network’s “transmission storms” that can clog normal L1 blockchains
