President Emmerson Mnangagwa has fired suspended Bulawayo High Court Justice Thompson James Mabhikwa for gross misconduct, sexual harassment and nude photos after a nasty and bitter fallout with a colleague and lover Oratile Nare following a tribunal investigation. ImageImage
Mnangagwa in June last year constituted a three-member tribunal to investigate the suitability of Mabhikwa to continue serving on the bench after being charged for alleged misconduct, sexual harassment and possessing pornographic material linked to his former girlfriend Nare.
The tribunal was initially made up of retired Justice Maphios Cheda
as chair (he was later replaced by Mtshiya), Chaka Mashoko and Phillipa Magnify Phillips, while Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Virginia Mabiza was the tribunal.
The tribunal was to investigate Mabhikwa’s conduct to ascertain whether it can be deemed to have been tantamount to gross misconduct; whether or not he committed acts of sexual harassment and possessed pornographic material when he dated a High Court staffer and subordinate.
Mabhikwa had an affair with Nare who was Bulawayo High Court Justice Maxwell Takuva’s assistant at the time.
Nare became jealous after she saw raunchy or sexually explicit messages and nudes sent to another woman by the judge, and then spilt the beans on social media in rage.

Zimbabwe tomorrow commemorates 42 years of independence from British colonial rule amid self-evident reality independence, which carried a promise of a new beginning and better life, has now become a Fanonian "empty shell, a crude and fragile travesty of what it might have been". Image
Zimbabweans fought a bitter struggle to dislodge colonial rule, amid bloodshed, destruction of lives and property, and social upheavals.
Tens of thousands of people died during the war spearheaded in Rhodesia, Zambia, Mozambique, Botswana and Tanzania by the liberation movement.
The coming of Independence was seen as a new beginning and the advent of a better and prosperous society with freedom, economic prosperity, equal opportunity and a democratic dispensation, but it has now turned out to a disaster - oppression, poverty and suffering now prevail.

The magistrate who got Bulawayo High Court Justice Thompson James Mabhikwa fired over nude photos, Oratile Nare, has finally been positively identified by The NewsHawks. All along the media used wrong pictures of various women they claimed showed Nare; here she is the real Nare! Image
Nare is a magistrate in Nkayi, Matabeleland North, but she is suspended over a different issue related to gross misconduct.
At the time when she was dating Mabhikwa she was an assistant of fellow Bulawayo judge, Justice Maxwell Takuva.
Mabhikwa was accused of abuse of office.
So one day last year Nare visted Mabhikwa at his home to spend a night there. The judge's wife died in 2020.
While the judge was sleeping, Nare took his phone and went throught it.
She came across a lot of sexually explicit stuff, nudes, between the judge and another woman Patie.

THE Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) is caught up in a renewed transparency gap as it gets increasingly entangled in a web of lies over its mysterious server which is now at the centre of a new controversy.
An independent Internet geolocation forensic investigation traced its system – the client-server connection – to a military-owned communication service provider, Africom Holdings.
While the army says it does not run elections, evidence shows that it in fact does through Fernhaven Investments which was chaired by the late Foreign minister Sibusiso B. Moyo (pictured).

After The NewsHawks' recent social media threads shedding light with facts, context and background on how publisher Trevor Ncube joined President Emmerson Mnangagwa's advisory panel and quit, media colleagues like Zimbabwe Independent editor Faith Zaba became collateral damage.
Zaba (she was collateral damage on the photo below), a friend of The NewsHawks journalists, wrote in today's Independent about her struggles as a female journalist to rise to the top, her commitment to editorial independence, journalism ethics and professional reporting.
Female journalists in Zimbabwe usually have to overcome many hurdles to rise, including dealing with patriarchal, structural and gender inequalities, besides discrimination and sexual harassment. The NewsHawks is involved in a number of female journalists empowerment initiatives.

South African opposition EFF spokesman Sinawo Thambo says his party will no longer tolerate Operation Dudula leader Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini's anti-immigrants and xenophobic campaign meant to incite locals to attack foreigners in black-on-black violence.
Thambo, describing Dlamini as a “toy soldier” and a coward, said this anti-immigrants campaign must stop.
He says there are some people who want blacks to fight.
“He has decided to attack the vulnerable, he has decided to attack those who cannot defend themselves,” Thambo said.
This comes after a South African citizen Victor Ramerafe was raided in Operation Dudula at his home in Dobsonville, Soweto, Johannesburg, on allegations of selling drugs, leading to an opening of a case of assault, intimidation and house-breaking against Dlamini.
