The fight for serious reform of the mental health system is happening NOW. Legislators are building a package at THIS MOMENT. Speak up! Share what you know! Encourage everyone to share their stories of what's broken!
Mental health care in the US does NOT adequately reflect the past 70 years of psychological science! We don't need more funding for the systems built after WWII, we need an evidence-based system of care that makes sense for TODAY.
1 in 5 adults have a mental health diagnosis TODAY.
Almost half of all teens report depressive symptoms TODAY.
Every 12 minutes, an American dies by suicide.
The US has a higher rate of suicide attempts than ANY OTHER wealthy nation.
Mental health sitgma perpetuates only because we discuss it as a "stigma." That's so 1900s and before.
It's 2022 - and every day we have more leaders, politicians, athletes, celebrities, CEOs stand up and said they have experienced psychological symptoms.
Data on lifetime prevalence of mental illness says that
EVERY human either
has had psych symptoms,
will have psych symptoms,
or loves/loved someone who has had psych symptoms.
and almost all say it is too hard to get good care!
THIS is the moment to tell US legislators that we need a BIG solution to fix a problem that affects us ALL. And we need it NOW before anyone else suffers needlessly. We are sitting on science-based answers TODAY that can improve millions of lives, and build psych resilience!
Do you know someone who has had psych symptoms but found it was way too hard to get answers, find a provider, afford therapy, or get treatment scientifically-proven to work? Do you know someone who felt abandoned when they needed mental health help the most? #IKnowSomeone
Speak up! Together, our voices have power! Tell Congress that this affects us ALL!
Obliterate the stigma - make change happen - send a message. Tell US law-makers: #IKnowSomeone and it's time for real change!
