Ukraine SITREP 1. There have been more Russian air/missile strikes overnight and this morning in and around Kyiv, Dnipro, southeast of Lviv and a number of other locations across the country.
2. There are reports of interceptions, but at least six impacts. There is no verification as yet on targets.
3. There was heavy fighting overnight northeast of Izyum as Russian units try to consolidate supply lines through the Borova region.
4. There has been a lot of fighting in the last 24hrs in villages around Izyum after Ukrainian forces took control of a number of strategic roads out of the city, containing Russian movements and interrupting reinforcements and resupply.
5. The situation remains very fluid in this region which is crucial to Russia’s advance south.
6. There are reports that US supplied switchblade drones have been used for the first time in this region, destroying armour near Slaviansk yesterday.
7. More shelling continued overnight in Kharkiv, Severodonetsk, Rubizhne and numerous towns and settlements in the southeast. Severodonetsk is now severely damaged like Kharkiv.
8. There are no updates from the Kherson region this morning as yet.
9. A Russian Tu-22M3 Bomber was reportedly responsible for yesterday’s airstrikes with dumb bombs on Mariupol. Possibly the first verified time of anything other than standoff large bomber attacks, suggesting an increased Russian confidence in air superiority in the southeast.
10. The vast deep bunker/tunnel networks under the steelworks continue to provide challenges to Russia as an underground several story complex bastion for the Ukrainian forces who continue to operate.
11. These were built during the Cold War to safeguard the plant workers for an extensive period of time if required. A reason for the concerns that Russia may use chemical weapons.
12. Reports suggest little more than 60 Russian BTGs have been relocated, regenerated and resupplied in preparation for the Donbas offensives, which sounds a lot, but provides little Russian resilience if Ukrainian forces prove to be anywhere near as adept as around Kyiv.
13. The terrain is more to Russia’s BTGs advantage for a Combined Arms Offensive with open ground and shorter resupply lines. However, Ukrainian ATGMs, new drones and other weapons, combined with small unit leadership and agility could significantly damage this Russian capacity.
14. The Russian Naval assets in the Black Sea appear to have remained much further off the Ukrainian coast since the sinking of their flagship, significantly reducing their support capability for ground forces.
