This #EarthWeek, we have major climate progress to celebrate. Here are just a few milestones we've hit – with more ahead, as we build a clean energy economy that cuts costs, creates jobs, and secures a healthy future. 🧵
Since President Biden took office, we've achieved some big climate firsts:
✅ First U.S. large-scale offshore wind project
✅ First commercial flight powered by 100% sustainable aviation fuel
✅ First commitment from U.S. steel and cement companies to reach net-zero emissions
2021 was a record year for American clean energy deployment - we brought enough new solar and wind projects online to power 10 million homes, and tripled the amount of utility-scale battery storage!
Under President Biden's leadership, we are charging ahead on electric vehicles. Companies have announced $100 billion of investments in American EV manufacturing, the 2-millionth EV hit the road, and the rate of public EV charger installation doubled.
When President Biden thinks climate, he thinks jobs. Last year over 3 million Americans were employed in clean energy jobs, earning wages 25% over the national median, and we'll create even more jobs through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Our National Climate Task Force will keep working to accelerate these opportunities and achieve the President’s bold climate goals. Learn about the steps we’re taking so that next #EarthWeek, we have even more to celebrate. whitehouse.gov/climate/
