In April 2021, Johnson hired a new independent advisor, Lord Geidt, because he needed be be investigated himself over potential breaches of the #MinisterialCode over a funds for favours scandal regarding his Downing Street flat refurb and golden wall paper.
Lord Geidt, the ‘independent’ advisor hired by Johnson to investigate Johnson, was happy with this version of events and found there to have been no breach of the #MinisterialCode.
The electoral commission found otherwise and fined the Tories £17,800.
