1. Covid continues to defy the adage “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”, as Scientists estimate around 100m people are likely suffering Long Covid.
2. Meanwhile several more world leaders drink the magic cool aid and try to make the argument we can live with a mutating virus circulating freely, killing more than any other infection, by “doing less”.
3. As several countries start seeing a fall in cases after the second wave of Covid this year (it’s April), other countries start seeing a surge.
4. Passing around new variants between countries now more acceptable than passing an agreement to tackle a global pandemic globally.
4. On cheerier news, New Zealand starts recovering after their 1st and only wave of Covid so far.
5. On even cheerier news they remain with less deaths than before the pandemic.
6. Then the current U.K. health minister criticises countries pursing maximal suppression.
7. Then Matt Hancock, the former U.K. health Minister claims the U.K. has been following a “suppression until vaccines” approach.
8. It seems the only thing the U.K. leads the world in now is how to peddle utter BS.
9. And as urgent care provision continues its deadly spiral..
..Johnson tries to apologise for partying while thousands died due to his choice to NOT pursue a suppression strategy, while also trying to not admit he did anything wrong.
10. Johnson is charged by police with breaching Covid lockdown rules for partying, and is fined.
11. Meanwhile the lack of any protections for Covid in England is going well…with over 1000 deaths per week.
12. In other news, many of those who were wrong at the beginning of the pandemic I.e. stop making all the fuss and just let it rip, are still wrong (Ok, not news)
13. The US and South Africa start experiencing surging other variants: BA4, BA5, and BA2.12.1
14. On receiving the news BA2.12.1 is surging in the States, Johnson boards flight British Airways BA2121 to India after misreading his briefing. (He didn’t really).
15. As we continue to play Russian roulette with Covid variants, the US CDC remove mandates for masks on flights. Apparently wearing a mask for a few hours is more uncomfortable than getting Covid +|- Long Covid, and less restrictive than breeding new variant surges.
16. Globally, Covid has caused 6million confirmed deaths and Over 15million estimated deaths. Yet still, rich nations hoard vaccines even though now “Covid is like the flu”. They’re not worried but they don’t want to share a surplus of life saving vaccines. Go figure.
17. In other selfish developments, a number of adult children prove just how ungrateful they are for their parents and grandparents sacrifices by refusing to wear a mask for a couple of hours a day or isolating when contagious to protect them. Gen “Don’t Give a Feck”.
18. In fairness, the messaging is very confusing. “Nothing to worry about”, but “you must get vaxed”. “”It’s just like the flu”, but “stay home if infected”. The leaders of the country sit in the same room squashed together all day without a mask, but “wear a mask indoors”
19. So now with even the media not sure if it’s coming or going, the popular approach is to just not talk about it.
Might try that, maybe patients will stop getting sick if we stop talking about it. I feel a clinical trial coming on.
That’s seriously all I can manage without a hit of Paxlovid or a booster.
Thanks for bearing with me.
Stay safe. Get vaxed. Wear a mask. And enjoy not being ignorant.

If young adults are refusing to occasionally wear a mask to protect their elders, then we need to ask some difficult questions about our parenting and culture.
Just for the record, there is no debate as to whether masks reduce transmission. If you have Covid and don’t know about it, wearing a mask will reduce how many people you spread it to.
Protection to wearer depends on grade of mask.
Just to clarify, by younger adults I was referring to ~20-40yr olds.
And By occasionally I was referring to supermarkets and public transport, etc…Shared spaces with older adults.
It might be somewhat unfair to criticise journalists not holding minsters to account for the pandemic response, when there is a lot of misinformation out there.
Here are the questions I would ask Johnson, Javid and Hancock - with the evidence.
Feel free to add your own
🧵
Q1. Do you think the government have responded well to the pandemic?
- Evidence suggests had you acted earlier over 25k lives would have been saved in the first wave, do you think you were slow to respond to the threat?
We discuss the dangers of having a PM in charge of a pandemic who seems very comfortable lying.
There are two major problems with this:
1. The attempts to pretend Covid isn’t that big a deal or we have defeated it, seemingly for political gains, encourages the public to drop their guard and take risks they are unaware of. For example, no need to get vaccinated as it’s “Mild” or like the flu or we have antibodies.
An untrustworthy government during a pandemic is a lethal combination.
The fact Johnson partied while we all sacrificed is abhorrent. But the fact he has lied, repeatedly, poses a greater current and future threat to the health of the public...
🧵
We can see the spin being applied to the pandemic. "We got the big calls right", "The first country to exist the pandemic", "Living with Covid", "Covid is like the Flu"...
They are all of course utter boll***s. But the brazen attempt to deceive the public is the danger.
We made many mistakes during the pandemic. I think Matt Hancock summed it up best:
“The UK strategy - to suppress the virus until a vaccine could make us safe - has enabled us to be the first major country out of the pandemic.”
Let us not forget just how bad Johnson and his government responded to the pandemic.
They and their supporters will try and twist the truth, but the facts are too clear...
The month was February. The year 2020.
A novel SARS virus was devastating North Italy and had already seeded in dozens of countries. Hospitals quickly ran out of space, and soon even oxygen had to be rationed.
Nations all around the world were putting in protective measures..
Both the UK and US thought differently...that somehow they knew better than our Eastern counterparts and the WHO.
