Here's a 🧵 on
- How to get started with internships?
- Why one should go for internships🤨
- What interships you can have? 👀
- what skills do you need🙄
- How to get internships (remote) 🎊
- How to avoid scams and traps while searching for an intership? 🚫
When you are in college 🎓, to keep learning 📝and experiencing 🏆
"How corporate world works ?"
"How do you manage projects? "
"How do you interact with people? "
For that, having an internship really helps you a lot 👍
It doesn't matter in what College 🎓 you are!
Look, it's very simple to get internships in which you are not getting paid 💰, that's not a good place to work. I feel that if you are working somewhere you should definitely get paid💵 unless it is a college startup and you do share the same vision💡 as the founder is having!
So, rule no 1 is : DON'T WORK FOR FREE 🚫
Now let's talk about Skills that are required 😃👀
It can be anything like
• Frontend development
• Devops
• Android development
• Graphic designing
• social media marketing
• video editing
Now here's come the main point📍 how to get an internship 🙄 so for that 1. Create a resume / portfolio📄 2. Now you have to find the job openings, for that you have 2 platforms 1. Angel list (angel.co) 2. LinkedIn
Let's talk about first website I.e "angel list"
(So, this website is made by @naval)
In this website, all the startups are putting their job openings.
Over there just search for a job title, eg: devops and apply filters ( for remote) and here you can see a list of startups 👇
That are hiring for these roles.
🚫⚠: Never go for statups that offers you zero money, zero equity because what they means is that they have no money, they had just a concept and for that they wanted to bulid an app/ website for them😨
Another thing you can do to research more about startups is go to a website yourstory.com . Here they just talk about the recent startups got which had got funded and in this way you can find a startup that has a lot of money 😃.
Note : Always have a look at
- what startup is about?
- what they are doing?
- what sort of a company they are?
Once you understand these things, you will be able to see is the pay is worth it for you or not 👀
Also for detail analysis you can check that startup at LinkedIn.
Now LinkedIn is one of the best and widely used for finding job and internship opportunities.
You can directly search for #internships in the seach bar and you can get many results & Choose whatever fits for you😃
Or you can search for a specific company or startup and over here you just see and have a look at if they have any job openings right now and just talk to people who are already working there and see is their any job openings or not?
Or you can directly reach out to the CEO's, CFO 's /CTO's and HR 's and ask them politely is there any role open for ______ ?
Now there are also something that you help you a lot in getting internships more easily
- if someone refers you, that will help. You a lot in getting the internships easily
- your social media profiles
- GitHub profile
- college name(do matters a little bit)
- a great portfolio
Now here's the last topic about scams and traps 🕳 1. There are many scams that charges you a lot of money for the internships like : if anyone tells you that "you will be getting this internship, but to avail this, you have to pay me like ₹5K OR ₹10k" 👇
Don't fall into this trap because you work for company, so you need to get paid 💵 . No need to pay them or the application fee or for any kind of ps that they are telling you.
Try to reply to there every tweets, so that when they will see your replies often, they will start recognizing you.
2. Join communities 👥
Try to involve in communities by being active in the community.
Ask questions, doubts, help others, share resources, talk about new ideas and projects, and showcase your learnings
