#durhampartygate a quick thread

We all know this image by now. 30th April 2021, @Keir_Starmer and his team meet for beers and takeaway in the Durham offices of @marykfoy
I think we're also pretty familiar with Keir's reasons for this gathering - "we were on Zoom calls all day, we broke for food and drinks before resuming work." But what else was Keir et al doing that day? (and those proceeding and following it)

Before visiting Durham, @Keir_Starmer and Angela Rayner were touring the country. Here they are in Rawtenstall on the 29th of April.

All well and good you might think, a short hop across the Pennines to be in Durham for a day of Zoom and phone calls on the 30th, but no. Keir routes via Hull and spends time there on the 30th visiting local businesses before THEN going to Durham.

Having arrived in Durham, you would then think that Keir gets straight down to the matter of those important Zoom calls - sadly not. He finds time in his day to meet unannounced visitors and poses (unmasked) for a photo op with a local teams football strip.
Once in the North East, Keir hung around, taking in the sites. He visited the new Milburngate development in Durham (building on a floodplain always sensible)
He also visited the steelworks in Hartlepool and he and Angela Rayner also found time to visit the seaside at Seaton Carew as well.

So, the man has been busy, you would expect him to be - he's touting for the top job in the world's 5th largest economy, he and his diary will be micromanaged, yet he, Angela and Mary Foy still found time to record a video at Durham Miners Hall.

And this is where questions start to arise. We know @Keir_Starmer was in Rawtenstall with Ang on the 29th. We know Keir was in Hull on the morning of the 30th and we know he was partying in Durham on the evening of the 30th....
We know on May 1st, that Keir & Ang were out and about in the NE & we also know that this was the same day that the FB video was released. The question then has to be, when was the video recorded? - it has to have been on the afternoon of the 30th.
So Keir claims he spent the day of the 30th in Durham on Zoom calls - I think we can call this BS (he was in Hull on the morning) But is getting together to make zoom calls reasonably necessary as defined by the law - the nature of the technology says otherwise.
When recording the FB video was it reasonably necessary for households to mix indoors for the purpose of recording? The fact that some shots are recorded outside, suggests not. So this constitutes a breaking of the rules.
If, as it seems @Keir_Starmer spent the afternoon of the 30th recording his video, it blows a massive hole in his "we were working on zoom calls" excuse for why he had a piss up on the evening of the 30th.
The frustrating thing about pulling together this thread is that all this info is in the public domain. All it needed was pulling together and the correct questions being asked.

@PippaCrerar @BethRigby @PaulBrandITV @Peston @tomhfh why aren't you doing your jobs
@sophieraworth for the next time that you interview Keir on #durhampartygate
Something to note on this video - the differences in light between Starmer's indoor scenes and Rayner's indoor scenes. Almost like it was getting late in the day when Starmer arrived. Not surprising after a 2.5 hour journey from Hull which he left early afternoon at the earliest.
It now seems that Keir might not have arrived in to Durham until 7pm on the night of the 30th.

Oh dear @Keir_Starmer that zoom call excuse is looking shakier and shakier.

I've pieced together the timeline of Starmer's day.

He started the day of the 30th in Hull. It appears that he and Rayner went their separate ways after Rawtenstall and Rayner headed direct to Durham on either the night of the 29th or morning of the 30th
During the day of the 30th, Rayner recorded her indoor scenes with @marykfoy Note the bright sunshine in their shot.
Having arrived in Durham, Starmer still had his video to record. Note the difference in light between his and Rayners which were recorded earlier in the day
And what about the shots to camera? Filmed outside when Starmer arrived.

Where's the bright sunshine from Ang's earlier shot?
We now know when Starmer arrived in Durham and what he did when he got there.

We can say with the utmost confidence that he was not on zoom calls.

His gathering was a party.
