And that's a WRAP! Thank you @EFDevconnect &
@ETHGlobal for another amazing event: ETH Amsterdam was madness :)

If you weren't bullish before, you couldn't leave Amsterdam with the same mindset. Supercycle confirmed.
So here's a rundown of our time there 👇 Image
1. Frens! First of all, it was an epic IRL team meeting, which we all loved and is super inspiring to our team and project spirit. Remote work is great, but still cannot beat the IRL relationship building. LFG frens! Let's keep #buidling. Image
2. Panels: Panels and Workshops were very educational, and we are bringing a lot of new knowledge home with us.
Topics included DAO governance, Zero-Knowledge programming, decentralized storage, StarkNet, Light Client tech and more. Image
3. Speakers and Judges were second to none once again and included Vitalik, Austin Griffith, Kevin Owocki, Alan Chiu, Sanchay Mittal, Linda Xie and many, many more:

4. Wen sync? It seemed impossible to "catch" all of them and in the end connect with everyone we wanted to connect. Each day sadly had only so many hours, and we mostly used them to catch up with: Image
@ConnextNetwork team, our amazing partners pushing the cross-chain ecosystem forward relentlessly.

@MidasCapitalXYZ for some sweet interop chats.

@0vixProtocol - pushing the Polygon Defi ecosystem forward.

@1kxnetwork - our amazing investors that help every step of the way. Image
Also massive thanks to other projects that found time to chat with us about cross-chain future, possible integrations, and community building:
THANK YOU everyone for a good time, extraordinary conversations, share of the knowledge and good friends and partners we have made during these short few days at ETH Amsterdam!
Most of you that we met, we'll be contacting to send you an NFT, which is a key to our li.zard community, where the cross-chain ecosystem is pushed forward! Until Next time in Amsterdam frens! Image

Good day, Lizard fam! 🦎

Welcome to our ELI5 series, where we explain crypto native topics in the simplest of terms.

Today we will be exploring what Whales are! 🐋

A mini thread! 🧵
1/ What are whales ❓

These are addresses that control a significant amount of crypto assets.

While there isn't an exact definition of what constitutes a whale, it's safe to say that any wallet that has the potential to move market prices substantially qualifies.
2/ Why are whales important ❓

They can move the prices of tokens massively. This is a recent, e.g., highlighted by @crypto_condom, where one whale smashed the price of @ConvexFinance (billion-dollar market cap. protocol).

Alright! We've waited long enough to reveal this! 🥁

A Paradigm Shift in Multi-Chain Transactions! 😤

We’re proud to announce that @etherspot and @lifiprotocol have made a huge breakthrough in the cross-chain user experience.

Curious? 🧵 👇
1/ Problem: Every time a user wants to explore a dApp on a different chain, they'll have to bridge to that chain and switch the RPC network on MetaMask.

Eg: If a user is on a dApp on Polygon but has funds on Gnosis, they'll have to swap, bridge, RPC switch, switch websites, etc.
2/ However, with Etherspot’s SDK that is powered by @lifiprotocol's cross-chain any-2-any swap functionality, users can now perform any action on any EVM compatible chain without worrying about changing their RPC network on MetaMask or where they have their funds!

At @lifiprotocol, we often talk about the need for bridges to be "trustless" or trust minimized.

Today, we attempt to define & measure the level of "trust" required by various bridge designs.

And what we found is that, with bridges, trust is a spectrum.

blog.li.fi/li-fi-with-bri…
1/ What is a Trustless System?

A trustless system is one that does not depend on external actors to facilitate transactions from point A to B.

However, this is a very simple definition.

On a technical level, it is much more nuanced 👇
2/ .@jadler0 and @badcryptobitch say:

“A blockchain system is trustless if and only if its state is (i.e., all its state elements are) both live and safe.”

Let’s dig deeper into this explanation.

The Ethereum Merge is scheduled for June’22. That’s only 3 months away.

The Merge could be one of the most historical events in Crypto history. Today, we’d like to inform our readers why the event is so significant.

A thread! 🧵
1/ The Merge is the full transition of Ethereum away from Proof-of-Work (PoW) to Proof-of-Stake (PoS).
2/ A lot of the groundwork needed to execute the Merge successfully has already been done —

• the Beacon chain already exists

• there’s already been a warm-up fork

• PoS already has light client friendliness

TLDR:

• ~$600K have been stolen from 29 wallets
• User don’t have to do anything
• Bug has been fixed and is already deployed

blog.li.finance/20th-march-the…
• 25/29 wallets have been reimbursed immediately — the rest we want to offer something special (alternatively normal reimbursement) and reached out via Twitter & transactions
• We contacted the hacker
An attacker exploited LI.FI’s smart contract, specifically our swapping feature which allows us to perform swaps before bridging.

We are investigating a potential exploit on LI.FI smart contract:
0x5a9fd7c39a6c488e715437d7b1f3c823d5596ed1

All swap methods have been disabled until we can lock them down and ensure they are safe for use. We will update you as we find out more.
For now, users don't need to do anything.
Update:

25/29 affected wallets have been reimbursed, the rest will follow.

The vulnerability is fixed and about to be deployed.

Post mortem coming out very soon.
